I was speaking to my friend who works for Microsoft and he said it was fine to use

I was due to format my hard drive anyway, so why not.

I will probably install Windows 8 (was using 7 an hour ago) after this anyway, just wanted to try it. Unslain Bosses - Clan

Meh... Tbh, I don't know if I'll upgrade when the time comes. Windows 7 still works wonders for me and I'm not a fan of OSs designed for touch screens. Yes, I know they got rid of most metro stuff for computers using mouse and keyboard input, but still... I see no benefits in Windows 10 that Windows 7 can't give me or even better. I suppose I'll upgrade when they cease security support for W7 in 2018. Or if they make W10 super optimised for SSDs.

I prefer how Win 8/10 look and the startup time was even better than 7 for me. I'm not a fan of Windows Aero and the alternative was even worse. Unslain Bosses - Clan

How weird, that's been the opposite for me. Start times were so inconsistent on W8 compared to W7 on both SSD and HDD

General performance was pretty much the same if not worse...

I get better FPS on Windows 8 than I do 7; and start times were incredibly consistent. I had Windows 8 when I built this PC (November 2012) right up until around April the following year, then I went back to Windows 7.

Maybe my start times will be worse as my SSD (and HDD) are older, but we'll see. Unslain Bosses - Clan
