Think of it like a plate of chips vs a slice of cake.

If you finish the chips you still have the plate. If you finish the cake you have nothing. The mere fact the plate still exists is the reason people go for seconds/want more (chips being gano flakes). And you can add more chips to your plate at any time but you can't add another cake unless you take another slice (i.e, buy another one).

If we did it in 1976 or whatever it should be easy to do now. Because the moon isn't very "useful" and it'd be very costly. I remember reading about this a few months ago, forgot the reasons exactly though :(
