Hi everyone,

As you may have heard, Jagex have a new head of Community Management - Mod Baker011.

We thought this would be a good time for you to put your questions straight to him so you can gain an insight into Community Management and our strategy and plans for the future.

Mod Baker011 heads up a team of 30+ Jagex staff who are responsible for -

+ Forums
+ Facebook, YouTube and Twitter

+ Fan Sites
+ Player Moderators
+ Forum Moderators
+ Clans
+ High Level Players
+ Player Feedback

.. and anything else which involves the community, from arranging VIP visitors to RuneFest through to community newsletters or keeping you up to date with community initiatives through news posts.

So if you have a question for Mod Baker011 post it on this thread - we'll grab them all together in a few days time and then put them all to him for some answers!

You can ask anything you like - but please try to be mindful of the areas that Mod Baker011 is responsible for, he isn't the best person to answer game/content questions - just stick to the Community Management stuff!

We have been told more clan updates were coming, will these come soon or not?

Also, have you ever though of (or is this in development) making a clanleader and his admins/deputy owners able to see all the previous display names of a person since he's been in the clan? And to see when a person joined?

(This is about clans, so I guess this is the place to ask that? No?)

EDIT: Also, we've had a Dutch Event Tournament twice as for now. I've been second to both, but to be honest I was a little bit disappointed by the prize in the Winter. It was a Goodiebag but I don't really use that; and I've heard the other winners don't really use it either. We've been told they could not give out membership like the prize in the Summer. They just said it's for administrative reasons, but I always wondered why... Maybe could that be clarified? Would be great :)

In the past year Jagex has profiled themselves more on media like Facebook and Twitter by providing sneak peaks of updates and competitions. By doing so Jagex ruled out those who can't/won't use these kind of media. I am not too fond of using those media and when it comes to sneak peaks or competitions I would rather see them on the Runescape website.
What is the motivation for the use of social media for the sneak peaks and competitions?
A year ago the community forums where introduced and recently they where removed. Reason given for the removal was you listened to the feedback from players. Players stated from the very beginning of the introduction from the community forums they didn't like it. Yet it took a year before they where removed. Why weren't they removed sooner?
The runescape forums are about 6 years old now (maybe more). Players have been asking for additional forum features for as long as I have been reading them and probably longer :P . Yet none where ever implemented.
For about a year now we have forum avatars and recently we got a highlight feature for reporting posts. However basic text features like underlining, italic and bold where never implemented. Now there is a poll about those features and several others. Will those features be implemented within reasonable time?
Since several foreign languages communities have their own forums what will your involvement be with the foreign language communities?

There's only 1 question I can think of atm, will you be increasing the Forum Moderator team any time soon?
Recently you've de-modded quite a few Forum mods that have been in-active, and another handfull resigned on their own.
I'm asking this not only because you lost a lot of the F-mod team, but also because you have recently deleted the Rants forum, and the ranters just start spamming other Forums now that they don't have their own Forum anymore (don't get me wrong, not every ranter is a spammer.)
I'm a regular in the General Forum myself, and since the removal of the Rants forum the amount of spam increased massively. I'm really starting to get tired of it, I know that we can highlight threads, but it really takes too long for it to be looked at.

2. With the removal of forum communities and the poll on which forum feature we would like to see the most, I get the impression that the big forum update is finally on its way. Is that true?
3. I'll be honest: The way Jagex communicates with players concerning feedback and suggestions is deplorable. Not to mention you constantly saying that the forums contain only a small minority so we can't be taken seriously is extremely discouraging. You give us nothing but a deafening silence (and occasionally robot-like "I'll pass it on" posts that tell us nothing). I understand content developers don't always have the time to have in-depth discussions with players, but YOU also need to understand that we can only handle so much silence before losing hope and giving up. It's like talking to nobody. Even if a JMod does pay attention, I always get the feeling that it'll be tossed out as "well, only 0.000000008921934921734% of our players have bothered to comment..."
Do you understand that there are threads that have existed for years without so much as a hint that any JMod has cared to read it? Why do we never hear from you again after the idea is "passed on"? Are you going to do anything at all to fix this?
I'm sorry that this is a bit rant-y, it just irritates me whenever I think about it.

1] Is it possible for some new sub forums@Dutch forums? I know Steve is about it, but... Yeah :P . We need some more - we are stuck in a few things (ask Moonie for more details ;) ).
2* What did you make to change some things in the Community Forums?
3] Why did you remove all opinion-forums?
4] What future forum part do YOU want?
5] Why did you join Jagex?
6] How are you? ;)

Hi :)
-Are there any plans in the near future to lower the total level requirement for nonmembers to gain forum access? In my opinion, the forums are a vital asset to the game and I wouldn't mind having them opened to more players, although it should still be a goal for nonmembers to achieve.
-In the Events community we had Jmods promoting events on the social networking sites in the past. Several months ago this was discontinued, but will community management be taking another approach to help promote player-created events?
-It's been a while since the localised language communities came together for an event (last event was a clan wars tournament I believe). Are there any plans for uniting the events communities again for a large event/series of events?

Q.1. What're you bringing to CM that'll be new? I'm perfectly happy with the current system, but shouldn't you start with a bang ;) ?
Q.2. What's the 011 after your name for (excuse me for being a complete idiot ^_^ )? And is that really your name, Baker011 :P ?
Q.3. Do you think that CM will expand in the future i.e. will you get more people in that particular management field, or do you think you have quite a sufficient number of people for now?
Q.4. The RuneScape community is huge, and you've just been put in charge of managing it on your first day. Do you expect a challenge?
Q.5. Do you guys REALLY go through all the captions for the Caption Contest? I know it's impossible to read through them all, but once or twice I feel that a few I'd read while scrolling through the thread were much more deserving than the actual winners.
