The prizes are really nice, dont get me wrong on that.. I would love to win those books and a tshirt and all
but seriously, I am totally against facebook, and I dont want you (RS/Jagex) to drag me there. :O - Facebook is quite insecure, alot of stories about it are going around, i dont like that idea
- I don't want to join social network sites anyway
Why, why why... Okay I could just think 'oh no!' when you started the fb connect
but now I am really facepalming and wondering why.. why why
what does it make you gain, to get a bunch of 'likes'? :(
I can't stand the idea that sites make contests for 'liking' them. You arent the only one.. butr I really believed Jagex stood above this..
:| This is madness...

So now that you're making hundreds or thousands (or more) people go to your FB page, are you going to clean the goldsellers from the comments? I don't have FB (or Twit or YT) account and am not going to get one, even if Jagex seems to care more about it than their own forums, but I've seen plenty of people complain about the gold/account/bot-seller ads on the RS account's comment space (wall or whatever it's called).

Social suicide.
Mind you I'm not surprised you have to *bribe* people to like you now. It's a pity you didn't spend as much time in your game and on your forums as you did on FaceTripe.

Ravenblood, Jagex hasn't been "right" since investors took over. (Since then they did the farce of a vote for Wildy/free scamtrade, then bringing them out, and I still don't know if they're banning bots or merely wiping off the botted exp/items.)
Jmods and Fmods, this is my personal opinion and I've seen it repeated many times by others. If you think this post is going over the top, feel free to hide it.
Also, I've heard all too many stories by people on these very forums that if you actually want to get a reply from a Jmod, you pretty much need to post it on the RS FB page these days. This thread is all about generating more "hits" on the FB page, and I don't think I've seen this many Jmod replies on an newy thread, ever.
Yours,
an increasingly unhappy Runescapean

Please dont rant because u dont have a facebook or twitter or youtube account.

I'm ranting less due to that than Jagex putting a FB promotion on their game's site and forums in the first place. Sure, a lot of people use FB, but most of us joined this game for the game, not the game's FB site.
Unfair or not, RS forums should be about RS. Jagex is already breaking it's own rules by posting links (basically URLs) to other commercial sites, while it's against forum rules. (Just try it to see how quick your post gets hidden.)
EDIT: I'm going to log off now, before my rantings get me uncomfortable mod attention. Enjoy being treated as mere "hits" on a page.

I don't like this at all.
I am a Jagex customer. I have played RuneScape for 7 years and paid membership the entire time.
I am not a Facebook customer.
I don't quite understand why I would have to become a Facebook customer in order to be eligible to enter this competition - or anything else Jagex/RuneScape related.
It's all very well to champion the Youtube/Facebook/Twitter pages - they are all part of the marketing and publicity for the game. But the RuneScape community LIVES HERE, NOT ON FACEBOOK.
I think the RS official forums should ALWAYS be the No. 1 place to access RuneScape ancillary content. Otherwise you risk fracturing the "community" into subsections (RS Youtubers vs RS Twitterers vs RS Facebookers, etc). Those social media sites should be a reflection of THIS SITE HERE, with the purpose of drawing people to RuneScape.
They should not have their own content.
I'm not too fussed about being entered into the competition - I have more RS freebies than I can use already courtesy of RuneFest last year - but I do think that there should at least be a thread here on the Official Forums where people can post to enter the competition if they wish, without having to use a third party.

TL,DR: The main Jagex site should be the home for RuneScape on the internet, not any social media sites owned by others. Jagex should respect their customers and not coerce them into patronising other companies' products.

Perhaps following the link to probably a high top ten most hacked site on the net would have been worth it had I not read comments your "likes" were leaving. Adverting bots and RS gold. Lol, you wont even recognize fansites (you remember those, the ones that taught people how to play this game before the knowledge base existed) if they dont block those ads. Way to be consistent...
No way I'd ever make a facebook account, I'd rather drop the soap in the county lockup. And I would discourage others from doing so no matter what Jokehex says about keeping that info secure.
Lastly, is your game done? Like if you arent going to play it, and arent going to update it, and ignore quality threads all over your CLUNKY, UNNAVIGATABLE, AND UNUSED BY MORE THEN A FEW RABBLEROUSERS YOU DON'T INTEND TO LISTEN TO ANYWAYS "OFFICIAL FORUMS" because most learned long ago you won't listen, and are pretty much going to act that way, why don't you just come out and say it? Oh wait I think you did on Twitter nevermind. Thanks for the gimmicks. We've always appreciated trash over quality, thats the new RS.
Grasping at straws here to find a reason to keep paying you. If I wasn't around when the Gowers actually put their hearts into it, I wouldn't be.

They are just trying to get into the social part of the world like everyone else. Why is everyone bashing them for this?
I agree the idea of playing RuneScape through their FaceBook page is just crazy and I would never risk my account information like that! I'm surprised they encourage it but still you can't fault them for trying to stay on top of the social world demand.
It wouldn't kill you to make a Facebook account JUST to enter the competition if you really want the prize. It's not that big of a deal.
