A question from the last poll what what keeps you coming back to Runescape? What keeps me coming back is the fact that you can do what ever you want on runescape and there is no end unless you want it to be. 0_o
Thanks Jagex for caring so much about our opinions!

Probably the single most influential aspect of the game that keeps me coming back is the sense of humour. Very "Phythonesque".

It appeals to me. I love that there are levels to the humour that perhaps some of the younger players just don't get... yet, but that it's not important for them to get it for them to enjoy the game too.

The response "Oh! You thought that you would try this again, did you!" is *exactly* what I thought. :P

As regards my identification with my characters - as a player and clan leader, Lumine *is* me: my real self interacting with the other players in the game. I tried roleplaying when I first started, but it spooked people ;P so now I just talk as myself.

As a character, Lumine has *some* characteristics I don't have... she used to be a Saradominist till she felt badly betrayed by Sara in the Underground Pass. She was embittered by that, something which I occasionally use as an explanation/excuse for actions in a quest which the real me wouldn't take, but which game-pragmatically I have to take if I want to finish the quest at all. So these days, the character follows Guthix.

IRL, I'm not much taken with any of the gods of RS; the real me would probably be an RS atheist - or an antitheist, at least, since the gods seem to be a bit too obviously There to just be disbelieved in.

I have a few other deliberately-not-me characters that I occasionally use - the most entertaining being the frivolous and irrepressible dark-skinned, purple-haired, pink-skirted chap known as Lilacbeard - but I don't find RS to be a supportive environment for RP on the whole.

And my clan get teed off if they need to talk to their leader and the nearest available equivalent is a guy in a pink skirt. ;)

I honestly can't specify one aspect that keeps me coming back, although the ranking system is one aspect which I would not continue playing without. The ability to be ranked among all other players is what gives it a competitive aspect so to speak, even in the least competitive skills ie. farming, who would've thought ;)

soooo ummmmmmmm, *you asked* for it... and i said i would post so here are my personal thoughts and opinions resulting from the poll:

i like-
long-term playability (this being my 4th of 5 accounts
in over 10 yrs!)
terrific variety of updates
care and humour involved in the creation of QUESTS
completely random fun things like cabbage kicking to Oo'glog!
the constant improvement of graphics ~KUDOS!~
recognition of holidays with silly/fun/nice things to do/get
the genuine care that many JaGeX staff have for us players
as well as the game itself!
and sooooo much more...

not so happy about-
the growing return of bots/macros/auto-playing :@
*the odd economic imbalance growing between combat/skilling,
(see note1 below for detail on this thought.)
the lack of filtering for names, akin to the censor in-game
**effigies and the imbalance they cause, (see note2 below
for detail on this thought.)

what i might like to see in future-
more interesting ways for solo skill training in the more 'grinding' skills. not mini-games, distractions/diversions-but actual training updates? dungeoneering was a good start on this!

*note1: there's a growing imbalance in money-making between mostly combat players and mostly skilling players. this didn't exist to such a degree back in the day when those who hated skilling (gasp!) bought mostly from those who enjoyed it. perhaps due in large part to things like subject of note2?

**note2: effigies, reward of a massive xp lamp received purely through combat training and often used on skills which a player never has to lift a finger to perform. where's the equivalent for skillers? shouldn't they have an opportunity to attain some massive combat xp as reward for high-level skilling? just a thought...

is often more valuable
than the destination reached.~

[apologies if the notes seem rant-like, and no offence is intended!] :P

About the latest poll! (Motivation!).
As above poster(2) said, Ill write in *almost the same way* :) .

I like:

- Work needed to level! Not instant-easy leveling as in a lot RPG games / MMO's. (Playing for more than 5 years now!)

- Big range of updates (*Different ones).

-Dedicated developers!

Loads more.

"Not so happy about" :

- Odd economy (The Supply VS. Demand is GREAT, though Merch clans and Combat VS skilling is a bit messed up).

- Low cencor on Names, a lot of offensive ones, I've seen!

- My noob feelings about *Missing old graphics*.

I dont dislike many things about the game, its more like opinions on what may be improved!

FOR ME most games, like Runescape, is a "escape" from the reallity where I can play and have fun, focus on goals and reach achivements I set for my self, getting that drop of epicness or kill one of the mighty foes!

My own personal thing which I seem to be most attracted to in most games, is the Range Skill.

Range and Slayer is amazing in my opinion! :D .
