Thanks for the Triumvirate feedback so far, guys! I know it's going to be really valuable to Mod Crow so we'll be sure to pass it all on to him.

On a side note, I can't believe how many comments there have been about the idiom "I'm afraid"! I had no idea that our American cousins had no such term in their vocabulary!

As many of you have correctly pointed out, though, it means to convey a polite sense of regret with your answer. It's got nothing to do with expressing fear, so sorry if there was any confusion there. :-)

Mind you, RuneScape is a distinctly British game with hundreds upon hundreds of obscure British phrases and words, so I'm not going to feel too guilty about using one in an official poll. After all, it's good to learn new things. ^_^

Toodle pip!

Perhaps a clan poll could be introduced? It's unique and not sure if it's been touched on before. Also, since the Jagex Cup is coming to a close it could be a nice add-on.

eg.

"Are you currently in a clan?"
Yes
No
Off and on/retired

Something like that could work. :P

Oh, I know what you mean Mod Howes. I've heard it said before but I never saw it written down. It's like saying "I'm afraid that I was wrong and you were right." Notice that I said "I was wrong" which means it already happened. If I said "I am wrong" then that means that he was scared of being wrong. Just take the above sentence and put "I'm afraid" at the end of the sentence and that is how the question was supposed to be read.

I hope this helps people who are still confused about that. I really put it up here to show that I understand, but if it helps someone then great.

I think it's fairly common, here in the U.S., to append an "I'm afraid" in the same context it's being used in the poll. I became conscious of my own propensity for using it because I've seen the same "internet" confusion that's been expressed in responses to this poll. It seems to frequently cause confusion or attract trolls.

I definitely agree that it's interesting to find new idiomatic expressions that are common elsewhere; however, given that the polls are meant to elicit feedback from an international audience, it might be better not to include extraneous information in the response choices.

"I'm afraid" in the sense that you used it shows up a lot in American English as well, at least from my experience.

I used it long before I read a word of British English.

As for the poll, I would have preferred a few questions geared towards the active Triumvirate members, or at the very least more responses fitting those who are active in the Triumvirate. I felt like the answers I was giving weren't accurately representing how I feel about Triumvirate (but were the best options available).

It works great for those who aren't as involved, though.
