It wastes XP, but not in the way you think.

It's simply a waste of time that could be better spent completing the dungeon, which results in slower floors. There's not an actual XP penalty. I guess people just heard someone say that it's a waste of xp and took it too literally, and it spread around.

I agree it'd be a good myth to bust though.

Myth or fact:

After reporting another player, you get a game message stating ”For that rule you can only report players who have spoken or traded recently.” ….which means Jagex never receives a report.

Since none of the report options explicitly state “Real World Trading” on the button….players
A) Often spend so long trying to figure out/use the correct one that they’re discouraged from reporting those issues again
B) Commonly use the wrong one (e.g. Macroing is usually closely associated with RWT), which has the potential to make things more difficult/time consuming for the team dealing with reports and/or means some cheaters slip through the nets
C) Don’t bother reporting
