Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know we've started uploading some of the pics entered into Player Gallery competitions on a new RS Community Flickr page .

Our Player Gallery page on the RuneScape website cannot be edited/recreated so we had to find another platform, we needed a platform to showcase player artwork and posting them on the forums takes a lot of time. Flickr's drag and drop feature makes it a little easier and less time consuming so that we can concentrate on more crucial things.

Just to be clear, the Player Gallery competitions and winners will be announced here on the RS official forums as they have done previously but all entries that meet the criteria and any fan art sent into us will be posted on Flickr.

As always be wary on any links you click on third party websites but I do hope that you can take a look at some of the artwork on there, it's really awesome. If I haven't made it clear before I really love our creative community, there is so much talent and creativity within the RS community and it's been an absolute pleasure making these changes and taking these positive steps to make fan art in RuneScape stand out more.

There is still a lot of uploading to do, I have player gallery posts from 2010 that I'm still putting into a folder and uploading so there will be updates weekly.

One thing I am wondering though is if it might be better to move over to DeviantArt instead? Runescape Players are much more likely to have DeviantArt accounts instead of Flickr, which would encourage engagement there. Flickr may have a cleaner presentation of Galleries, but misses out on the Community Engagement aspect there which is the greater thing to consider.

If the Player Gallery was moved over to DeviantArt it would put it in the hub of the Fan Art Community, and might encourage other Artists to join in the fun as well ^^

In regards to the future of Player Gallery Submissions... would it be possible for these Artists to now include social media account handles with the information that's presented about their work? Some might want to include their DeviantArt Accounts (Etc.) if their work is being featured off-site, so that interested viewers could check out some of the Artist's other work.

That might come with the liability of leading users to Art Profiles that may have "questionable" works amongst their Galleries (it's around in the Fantasy/Fan Art Community), but I think the General Runescape Community could be trusted with this.

Love the Art I'm seeing so far by the way :)

Hey,

I tried Deviant Art and it's an amazing platform, however it was proving quite difficult for us to use it in this way because the CM team before us had already used it to enter blog entries and share fan art, I didn't want to remove anything they had already done but it needed a fresh start so to speak.

We still want to use Deviant Art too and would like to have a gallery on there too and perhaps backlog some blogs and share player creations on there because there are a lot of the RS community on there but it all takes time. I hope you can be patient with us while we make as much use as we can of the tools around us. This is a step in the right direction though as I've been wanting a platform to share player art for a long time, I'm glad that we've found somewhere we can do this for now. :)

Deviantart has a thriving RS community, I know this for a fact, I'm a regular poster and reviewer there. I don't know what your problem is, Deviantart is extremely easy to use, even a brain dead, autistic monkey can do it. Why the f--k would you delete your old entries anyways, it was all good art, it doesn't need to go. Why ignore an already existing community? Why not go back? Why start fresh on a platform that no one uses anymore?

This is stupid and illogical. Go back to DA Jagex.
