Obviously none of these people who started after 2007 will be ale to appreciate this update. For those who started prior to 2007 given they had some game time they might find this to be pretty inticing. I myself have played since 2003(with multiple accounts and memberships as my witness), I've seen plenty of updates, seen the numbers of bots rise and fall, even inflation & deflation of market prices. They're just things that happen...
To an extent the GE has been a cap for many high and low balling of items by many players. As for scams, there really isn't too much that's was ever needed to do, have a little common sense. Before anything, all cash amounts used to show up in plain yellow, it's colored now, pay attention to everything you do it's not hard... If you get lured be smart enough to educate yourself of your location, learning is part of the game. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", the saying goes along way, think about it...
This update will serve as a nostalgic gift to many dedicated veterans such as myself, who didn't quit when it was taken away. It's just something the newcomers haven't experienced so they wouldn't know how great this game once was or even further, whether to say yes or no. Judging from numbers in the past though, we all know it was a big hit, and would further enthuse players to continue playing and maybe even others to come back. Yes, there's the underlying fear of bots, but even still there are bots now, there always will be... do your part and help Jagex in keeping this game as fun as possible. To all who haven't experienced the game how I once loved it, give it time, you'll grow to love RuneScape how we once did and still do.
Happy New Year.

umm ok... queb i guess you werent around yesterday.. no matter. I started playing in classic, im a old school player who likes to help new players by giving them money and armour. I loved the old wilderness and free trade. Just because one of my posts was typed in a bad way and i didnt put as much thought into it doesnt mean that im a new player and very whiney. I've done what I could to be a good player and am looking forward to this update.
The post was meant to be a joke with arch because he was answering the same kind of questions yesterday.
I didnt mean this message to be mean or provoke any arguement. Just thought i would let you all know that post isnt me... and wasnt suppose to mean anything...

@davey devine,
I was also a player before 2007, and never liked the old Wildy, because you were never able to enter the Wildy, with the risk to get killed. With the introduction of the revenants, the Wildy became a lot more fun to me. No players luring new players into the Wildy, just to kill them, the only risk now is getting killed by a revenant.
Happy new year to you too.

Wise words, I am also against wilderness in every world.
A pro would be that luring and scamming will be a lot harder and therefore pretty much eliminated.
Also there is the wilderness ditch, if one decides to cross that line, why feel pity for that player getting ''lured''.
That player decided to go that far!
As for item scamming, we all know perfect communities are unreal, one cannot expect everything to be legit or safe, after all this is a rpg. Always keep in mind that you could get scammed, so always keep that in mind.
A cont*a would be lagging, if you pack up everyone in just a few worlds like world 18 for example, the game experience is not really ideal.
As for the gold traders.
Every popular MMO game has it is an endless fight trying to eliminate them.

Help me if im wrong, but didnt jagex put a warning everytime you tried to go into the wildy with the ditch? something like if you go in here you can lose all your items and you had to accept it? this may of been after, its hard to keep things straight.

i also have mixed feelings about this - WE NEED A COMPROMISE!
it would be great having old wilderness back because we all love the simplicity of go in, kill someone, loot their items and the scariness of walking around the wildie not knowing whether that dot on your screen is someone who is going to strike you down as sooon as he sees you. however, when going to the green dragons..doing clue scrolls, getting a mage cape after losing it, doing quests etc etc, do i really want other people to attack me?! NO! with revs i can run and log, but people can run also therefore i cant get away and will die, this is especially annoying if i have to wear armour for the quest or have my clue scroll on me. we can resolve this by having the bounty hunter and pvp worlds in which it is exactly like old runescape wilderness, but in the other worlds it is as it is now, with no players able to attack you. this means people get their old wild back but we still wont get annoyed like hell trying to do clues or quests etc
another thing - the trade limit - getting rid of it will be great..no more need for junk and proper merchanting is back, merchanting clans die. however, what will this do to the grand exchange? the grand exchange loses its limits? that means people can charge whatever they want for it and when buying items ill have to keep going up in 10ks or something to try to get the cheapest price, as opposed to now where people most of the time either sell items for the lowest, middle or highest. i could try and buy a bgs for market price and not know everyone is charging 30m for them because thats what they think they should be worth. likewise, i could want to sell my item quickly, but not sell it too cheap. now, high price doesnt sell easy, mid price does if its a wanted item, and low is almost guaranteed unless its junk, but everyone could be buying for 25m and im selling for 26m, and i wouldnt know. also i can see us getting swamped with people like '5j3b6' stealing our trees

@Herb,
Thank you for the compliment ^_^ I do feel a bit pitty for those players, but imagine the following:
You are a new player asking for some help, a player is willing to help you and takes you to the Wildy, you get a warning. The other player is telling you that's just a warning for the dragons and revenants, I know the right route, just follow me.
You decide to follow the other player, then suddenly a lot of his friends are coming up and you get killed. You lose everything you earned.
How would that make you feel? I hope you get my point here.
Also for PowerOfchaos:
Hope you get my point eighter.
