Heres a little perspective for those of you who havn't played with free trade before:
I've played runescape since "Runescape Classic" was the only version to play. Over the years there have been sooo many changes both better and worse, but realistically they can't make us all happy with every update. The one thing I really want to get out there to those of you who are really worried about this change is simple: Runescape will be a player based game again, but allow me to explain this statement.
Since the G.E. was made, the amount of interaction between players quickly disappeared. Everyone talks about scammers but really, I was horrible for the first 5 years I played. My best cash pile was always under 200-300k, and I never had skills in the 80s or 90s. But I also only got taken for a scam once in the 8 years I've played. Easy ways to avoid scammers are:
~Look up or ask a trustworthy friend if you are buying an item you've never had.
~Don't buy items you don't understand
~Never "follow" someone just because they promise you money. 9 out of 10 times, they will take you into the wild and kill you. Simple stuff.
Not everyone is a bad player, no matter how the trade is run, it will have people who use and abuse the system. After 8 years, I can't imagine the game without them, its the constant battle that keeps the game fresh.
With free trade we will interact with each other again, we can help each other, and we can benefit more from doing theses things because thats how the game was built.
Thankyou Jagex, you may have disappointed me many times in the past, but in these long 8 years, this has been the best potential update I've had to look forward to in 3 years. Have a happy new years and keep up the great *ork!
