YES for the old wild. Though I haven't experienced it firsthand, I have read up on it. Being skulled as soon as your enter a pvp zone sucks. :| And it'll also make the prices of dragon bones, white berrys, and unicorn horns go up. Which means more profit for the non-botters. :D Free trading... it gets an uncertain yes.
I always hated the trade limit, and I'd love to try out merchanting the honest way. :) However, there will be a sharp spike in botters. Since massive amounts of money can be passed between accounts... Gold farmers can bot several accounts at once and pass all their botted goods to their mains in a matter of minutes...
I'd hate to see botters and gold farmers be rewarded in such a way for cheating. Unless JaGeX figures out a way to detect bots as soon as they start... or keep two accounts from passing money between each other if they both have the same IP... I have to say no.
As for scamming, check your trade screen before accepting. And don't trust anyone in the wild. Simple. Also, a tutorial on scamming would be helpful. And perhaps a 5 second delay before you can accept a trade could be added to insure that the trade screen is properly looked over? Just a thought.
Many thanks to JaGeX for this update. If done right, it should be awesome. ^_^

I vote yes to wildy AND free trade. However, I think that the old system where you were only skulled if you attacked first is bogus. EVERYONE should be skulled when in the wilderness. This would prevent those 3 itemers who can pk with no risk but major rewards, assuming they can actually get a kill.
People complain about the issue of possible bot increase, it's not going to happen. Even now, go to varrok yew trees and notice the 20 bots. Go to any ivy spot and notice the 20 wcers xp botting. Go practicly anywhere and you find numerous bots.
Let's face it, hacking and creating bots is significantly easier than coding a game like runescape and keeping bot detection up to date with the gold farming bot creators.
Bots will ALWAYS be one step ahead of us.

Botters will become more of a problem than they are now. Right now, all botters have to bot their own money, their own skills, and if they get caught, they lose EVERYTHING they earned. If free trade is installed, a single person can run 5 bots or more and transfer all the botted money onto their main, or worse. This makes it so that their mains are safe no matter what, unless they're banned for RWT. if one of the botted accounts they had gets banned, they'll just make another. :( Then JaGeX will be in a real pickle.

As you can tell if you've read the thread for a while, I'm against reversion and my posts are frequently sarcasm and irony laden. This post has no sarcasm; I honestly would like someone to explain the logic of something since I'm no RS economy genius by any means. This is not an argumentative question, I'm merely seeking information.
How does removing trade restrictions eliminate or even reduce the influence of merchant clans? Isn't the primary means that they use to jack up prices hoarding? They pick an item they feel is currently undervalued or whose demand they expect to rise and get all their members to buy all they can. Then they commit to holding that item off the market to build up demand and hence price. How does allowing people to make unbalanced trades or removing price floors and ceilings from the GE prevent or change this? The only effect I can see is it opens up other channels to buy a hoarded item, i.e. people standing around fally park without using junk. But wouldn't that just drive the price up too?

I personally think that we could find a way to satisfy both the peaple who want the old runescape back and those who fear that scammers will return with it. For one we could let some worlds be dangerous wilderness without it being bounty in the same way that lootshare is only on some worlds. As for the free trade I agree on bringing free trade back as long as the values of items stays as it is.

I left this game, as did many other people i know because they took away the glory that this game was. And the glory of it, was freedom. I was never a scammer. I couldn’t just take some poor fools money, It wasn’t in me. But I would drive hard bargains. And that was the glory of it. Buying and selling items. Making money any way I wanted. Now, you HAVE to rely on skills. While there is nothing wrong with that. I want to be able to choose my own path. I had so much fun doing it. For a while I remember being the middle man in supplying coal to some smiting companies. It was good money and it was fun!

As for the wild. Being able to just run out and die. (which I always did) was SO FUN. I miss it.
Now it wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies. I had my mishaps. I was tricked by scammers. I was lured into muticombat zones. But did I ever complain to Jagex? NO whose fault was it I clicked accept on the trade? Whose fault was it I ran after that guy attacking me and found his clan ready to ambush? IT WAS MINE. You people blame the game makers for the mistakes you make in the game. When they took away free trade and open wild. They took away the freedom and the wonder of this game. Now its just all tame. I don’t want a game that is just the same thing every time. I want there to be a chance to lose everything I have. Or to gain it all ten times over. I loved the old wild, but I don’t think I EVER got a kill out there. Hahah sad, but true. I know many people are already coming back to this game because they have heard of the referendum. Jagex you tried to hard to control us when you took away the freedom in this game. You are now stepping up and doing the right thing. SON I AM PROUD.

Here’s to a free world once again.
