Razick-- There's a simple way to settle some of this: Jagex could release the list of accounts that voted yes. But they've admitted they don't care who votes. People post MMH's talking points and first he says it's not a fake poll, then he says they don't care about who voted, only the numbers. I'm REALLY tempted to make an American political comparison here, but I'll resist the urge, since I just read the rules.
The fact that everyone you talk to seems to support it doesn't really mean much. You're unlikely to be talking to a random sampling. Why do we keep debating on the margins of this? Just have a fair vote. End of story. If enough people really want to trust Jagex will handle the reversion appropriately, then tough luck to me and those on my side. And we shall see whose predictions of the consequences are right.
My point comparing botting to IRL crime was that you don't encourage people to walk down a dark alley at midnight with cash sticking out of their pockets just because some hotshot chief of police holds a press conference and says "We're confident that we have crime well under control."
AFTER the cops, judges and prison guards DEMONSTRATE that crime is under control you start relaxing about ***king down dark alleys. Jagex can easily satisfy the majority of my (and many other calm and rational posters) objections to unlimited trade by showing us the results of their hot new bot detection AND REMOVAL system.
Calming-- Green dragon bots are HARDLY the only type of bots out there. Yes, OK, we get it. PKers will kill bots in the wildy. I LOVE THAT. But most bots are not in the wildy, so how does bringing back the wildy and free trade reduce bots?

Well, Calming, you may have been one of the lucky ones. Perhaps your cb level scared them off, or, put you out of reach of the attackers. I did notice that as my own cb level went up, attacks were fewer and the damage was less. So, I crafted runes more or less undeterred. None of that changes the fact that many skillers who were rcing were under a constant barrage of attacks at times. Was something I witnessed and thought was pathetic. Most had little armor and no ability to fight back. In addition, the annoyance of replacing pouches was absurd. I speak out on this because I never did like a bully that looked for an unfair advantage in order to exploit others.
