Mod Osborne says, and I quote; “I regularly hear from both the community and the Jagex team that we should reintroduce free trade and the excitement of the old Wilderness, warts and all. As you know, we removed free trade and the Wilderness in 2007 to combat botting, gold farming and item scamming. Since then, we have produced new content that provides comparable gameplay and mechanics to allow increased trade limits with long-term friends; however, we are still regularly being told that something is missing from the 'good old days' of RuneScape.
We’ve been shutting down bot-makers all around the world and prosecuting people for stealing accounts, and we’ve evolved our systems to quickly detect cheating; however, we will have to accept that we will never completely eradicate cheating so long as there is an incentive and method to do so. Bringing back free trade and the original Wilderness will certainly make this a bigger issue than it is today, though I can pledge that we will never stop trying to combat it.”
The ‘good old days’ I don’t think so. The wilderness was supposed to be a place for PVP but it never was. It was a place for assassination and terrorism. In the good old days you go into the wilderness and are attacked by three players, a meleer, a mage and a ranger, standing one on top of the other so it looked like one player on the mini map. That’s not PVP is it, it’s unfair advantage. After awhile I just refused to go into the wilderness. It was not exciting to die.
In the ‘good old days’ you stood in Falador park (world 2) trying to buy or sell something along with 200+ other players doing the same thing. It was nothing but mass confusion.
Bah Humbug! Why would I want to go back to either of those? It’s not progressing, it’s regressing. There’s not much good about the ‘good old days’, just ask your grandparents.
