What will happen is millions of runescape players will be massacred in the wildy bc they don't read the updates, the message of the week, chat window login messages, warning popups or any NPC conversations. And it's a wonderful, beautiful thing! Kill them all repeatedly :p

I shed a little tear at the thought that this may be the last and only hope of every returning to the glory days of free trading.
Take a closer look at the anouncements wording:
"So, the big question is, are the passionate voices we hear on this topic truly representative of the majority of the player community or just a rather vocal minority? Do you want to see a return of free trade and the original Wilderness? If the vast majority of our players vote in favour of it, then we will do exactly that"
and now lets look at the w*kipedia entry for runescape:
The game has approximately 10 million active accounts, over 130 million registered accounts.
(VAST MAJORITY)!!!!!! that means well over 50% of registered users 65million users need to click that yes button and if users keep clicking at the rate they have been we will get approximatly 14million hits falling short by at least 50 million. This is not really a fair voting system.
JAGEX says it all "The Wildy is dead, and long may it stay so! "
this is nothing more than a glorified final nail in a long Dead coffin

I've personally played this game since before phats dropped in classic and to me the removal of the wilderness and free trade was the single best update Jagex has ever come up with.
When people can openly trade they simply create throwaway lvl 3 accounts to bot and produce cash that they give to their Main Account through the wilderness or open trade, protecting their Main Account from getting banned. I remember attempting to cut yew trees along with 20 (no joke at all) lvl 3 bots named ping1243, ping1244, ping1245, exc. When everyone bots it creates an unfair market as items in less supply which cannot be botted to obtain (God Wars Material, D Claws, Rares) are bought out by the botting population which no longer cares for price.
*when the update was launched, I saw a DRASTIC reduction in the number of bots IMMEDIATELY*
*really, who wouldn't bot if they could use a throwaway lvl 3 account to run the risk of the ban, protecting their Main?
Also, there is no point in creating a pole with one option. Why isn't the pole system P-word protected; I can type in the names of everyone I see at the GE and get myself a good 500 votes by the end of today, hell, someone’s probably already voted that I want to bring everything back. Why can't I vote against the wilderness and free trade? I'm just waiting for Jagex to bring everything back saying that 100% of voters chose to bring it back on a pole with only that option.
For those who want the old wilderness back, I do support making the current wilderness on all worlds PVP. What many people don't realize is that the current PVP system also gives players a ton more cash than the old system used to (as a PK'er myself).
PS - For everyone assuming that me and others against free trade are against it because of scamming, that idea is ridiculous.

I am totally in favor of bringing back the original Wilderness AND Free Trade. For all of you who don't agree with returning free trade, hear me out.
We have all been scammed before, yes? Of course we have.
However, we as players NEED to learn from our mistakes! In the real world, people are scammed all the time. It is our job to recognize our faults, and to act accordingly by not repeating them!
Furthermore, with the bright flashing red exclamation points, in addition to the not one, but TWO trading review screens, it is impossible for CAUTIOUS player to be scammed!
Admit it guys and gals, you were scammed because you didn't take the time to READ your screens. You were so excited about receiving your first "Rune" scimitar that you immediately clicked 'Accept' without a glance. (I know I did.)
Still don't agree with me?
When you rode your first bike without training wheels, did you fall? Most of us would say we did. We would also say that, without a doubt, we were overwhelmed with joy when we pedaled down that pavement for the first time, flawlessly. Now imagine if those training wheels were NEVER removed. Would you ever learn to ride that *ike by yourself?
You would be so content with those training wheels that even the thought of taking them off would seem stupid. I mean, you're so used it now, why make a change?
EVERYONE has forgotten the FREEDOM that RuneScape's trading system once had. Do you recall when Trade Limits first came out? There was an outrage! Riots were held in Varrock Square! Over time though, we all got accustomed to the limits, forgetting what we once held dear. Would this be the first time? Of course not.
Recall when the RuneScape Font was changed. How about the God Sword animations? The menu tabs? You may believe that these updates were simply 'minor', but a minor update here and there, and RuneScape could be a totally different game. DO your own due diligence...stop depending on the 'STATE' to protect you.
