The biggest surprise is Jagex is relying on dishonest behaviour of some of the players.
Jagex encourage them to kill penguinhunters, 1-3 itemers for the forinthrycave, killing rc-ers to make them loose their pouches and last but not least: killing beacon lighters.
Jagex tries to soothen the beaconlighters with a bit of xp.
Dishonest pk-ers see unarmourmed people as vermin, lowest of the foodchain. These preyers rely on the same skillers to provide them runes, armour and food to continue their vulture attitude.
Revenants were dangerous in the wild for the past 3 years and acceptable for Jagex. They killed without pleasure and attacked all. This cant be said of some of the so called pk-ers.
Some people of communities, built over the past years, are concerned by the changes. They do not want to pay hard earned real life cash to be annoyed, seen as vermin, or fight with bots for a single log. These people observe for a while, express their concerns and if not listened too, move on to places where the community spirit florish.
Runescape will end up with a barbarian population feeded by bots until the brats are bored by the game and move on.
The mature community have encouraged people to play rs. This was free advertising. It also provided long term memberships. On average the mature population is loyal because of the friends they make. They make a difference, simply by influencing other people on rs and in real life.
For me this means, I got a few days left. I observe. I do not tell anymore rs is an awesome game. I sell my runes, fish and logs to friends for a decent price. I sell the same items for a ridiculous high price in the G.E. In my thread, Quick find code: 15-16-991-62334409, I asked Jagex for a few non-pk worlds with revenants (and lousy drops), like there used to be a few pvp worlds. I asked Jagex to honour their mission statement: we understand the importance of supporting our global gaming community and providing a safe and enjoyable gaming experience.

Yeah, we know. Lets encourage more people that shallow to come back and "play" the game....
But really, the posts about "OOh, I love the wildy; I just made x million PJing people..." I mean, who cares? These people have as much credibility as the ones STILL apparently able to find suckers to fall for "Doubling up to 1 mil... not a scam!"
I've grown bored with people who love to brag about how much money they can make per day or per hour. Even if they're telling the truth they usually really mean that they just got a lucky drop. It's like a slayer saying they made a million in an hour because they finally got abyssal demons as a task and one finally dropped a whip. They ignore how many hours it took to get there and just claim it took the amount of time they spent at it this session. They might just as reasonably claim it only took 30 seconds, since that's how long it took to kill the one that dropped the whip.
I'm convinced that the people with these ridiculously huge banks (those that are even telling the truth) fall into one of two categories:
1) Totally the result of dumb luck, e.g. the ones who were playing when Christmas crackers were dropped, collected tons, then gradually got richer and richer as they were made valuable by making newer holiday items untradable. Or who had for some stupid reason collected thousands of climbing boots at exactly the right unpredictable time.
Or 2) Simply obsessed with having more money than anyone else. They enjoy spending time researching and thinking about the minute details of RS rules, economics, new items, etc. and posting on forums about manipulating the market and scamming people. They enjoy standing around for hours polluting the chat with their autotypers just so they can feel good about dividing the number of hours they did it into the amount of profit they made.
Some of this I have no problem with. I'm not envious of their cash pile, I'd just rather actually PLAY THE GAME than obsess about GPs.
