"The runescape player count has gone way up since the votes."
That was another common reason given by supporters in the voting debate. (About the only claim they made that they were right about, really. Not that opponents very frequently disputed the claim.)
Frankly, I just don't see why it's such a great thing anyway.
Yeah, it presumably means more revenue for Jagex. So I assume that means either more updates or better tested updates. I don't really need more content than we're currently getting; I'd rather they re-prioritize the new revenue towards less buggy (better tested) updates and/or increased enforcement of rules (e.g. botters, scammers, hackers, offensive names and speech, etc.)
So that's the upside.
The downside is more lag, more full worlds, more competition for resources, greater numbers of people trying to kill you in the wild, etc.
TBH, I'd prefer the fewer people side of the equation myself....
