wrong. it was to stop the huge loss due to rwters using stolen credit cards to pay for bots membership fees. that was a huge success.
yes rwting goes on now, but they do so by selling accounts. if they use stolen credit cards on those accounts, they get banned before they can sell it.
that was the only thing that mattered.

your part right. it was and is the freedom of the game, both for pvp and non pvp. that is appearantly about to change for non pvp.

if you played the game on 2007 or before that then you should know that the ONLY reason people skilled or merchanted was to make money FOR PKING. Did you get that? read it a couple times please...
Back then people got:
FISHING: for PKING FOOD.
HERBLORE:to make their PKING POTS.
ALL OTHER SKILLS: To make money for PKING GEAR.
Yes there are alot of skillers in runescape... but ONLY because "TO PK, YOU NEED TO SKILL" only an idiot wouldn't understand that.
How else would pkers get the food needed to pk, or the money for weapons/armor if they didn't skill...?
ps. your statistics/percentages are miles away from reality.
90% of players ARE PKERS. This percentage includes skilling and merchanting as well... no sht. like i said its required.
10% are nerds who just click on trees or rocks all day.

YES, I WAS HERE. i and most of the people i knew never pked.
a poll done in 2006 asked how many time people had pked IN THE HISTORY OF THEIR ACCOUNTS. OVER HALF SAID LESS THAN 5 TIMES. only 10 percent had pked more than 25 times in their entire history. only 3 percent had pked more than 50 times.
again, tell me how everyone skilled and merchanted for pking?
if pking was the biggest part of the game, why was the wild so small and the rest of the world so crowded.

then why were more than half the pkers " pker pures" who insulted others for skilling?

not according to three seperate polls jagex did in 2006. if 90 percent of the game had been about pking, jagex would have eliminated skilling and made it possible to buy all your stuff with real money.

it was a massive change. pking was the main thing back then.. who can fight the best pretty much had bragging rights on all. But its not about braggin rights its fun killing noobs haha
yes well when the trade limit was restricted it caused a big stir. and people have been complaining ever since most of the new players havnt had a chance to experience the way it was *back then*

You seem to be forgetting that 100,000's of people quit because of this update, runescape had far more active players before this update, and only a small percentage of these were bots. The majority would be online to train their stats so that they could become a better pker, or had the items to pk with etc.
Runescape has no real motive now to play, it's become unfun unless you just want to click on things without any real aim but to get 99.. which is pretty boring in my opinion.

Now for as the kids who don't want the old wildy back because it makes it CHALLENGING for them to skill in the wilderness unless jagex makes "wilderness worlds"...
which i find sad btw. THERE IS NO FUN AS THERE IS NO CHALLENGE.
i don't think that's a good idea lol... instead they should make "non wilderness worlds"... meaning the MAJORITY of worlds would be wilderness worlds BECAUSE the MAJORITY OF PLAYERS ARE PKERS.
So basically... There should be like 4-6 worlds without the wilderness for all you whining wimps who don't want the "HORRIBLE, TERRIFYING, DANGEROUS, pkers interrupt their precious time.

I disagree personally, The wilderness would be best rolled back to how it was. The simple fact because level three clue scrolls are supposed to be challenging.
Mining Runite ore is supposed to be challenging.
Using the abyss is suppose to be challenging.
--If yo don't like it you can always try level 2 clues, mining adamant, or walking through Karamja.
