that is a good point. and i have no determation in saying that it's false, but i feel that most of what happened was due to the fact that these occurences happened. and the fact is, they will happen again. needless to say your absolutely right about being spoon fed.
i do feel, however, that it's still giving too much back when they give us free trade and wild. i'm not saying that it's a terrible idea. no idea is. but to give us back something that caused it to be taken away in the first place is almost counter productive. i would love to see free trade and wild back, but i would need to see it with altercations to be satisfied.
but no matter how much i rant on about what i want, it's not going to happen. and yes, i was foolish when i played old school and got scammed. sure. we all were at one point though. and to say otherwise is liek saying that you were never a kid.

This is a great thing to see Jagex even contemplating on bringing back the wild and free trade. it shows how much they have finally started listenning. its taken 3 years to do it but its finally being done. the economy of rs has gone downhill with the new pvp. in the old wild if you lost an item that means someone else got it. now you lose it and its normally gone for good. no ones ever going to be able to completely stop botters with or without wild and free trade. i lost a lot of friends on this cause they got rid of it and hopefully some will come back but it will never truly be the same with the chance of jagex changing it back only a click away.
so best hopes for wild and free trade back. :)

You bring some good points into view, some people are not ready to have all this power thrust to them. But the vast majority of us are ready.
And good point with the scamming.

150% yes on this one...when they took free trade and "old" wildy away i simply got bored and quit playing as did all my friends...i enjoyed PKing to a certain extent i mean it is a rush to go into the wildy with your good armor and weapons and not know weather your going to come out with it or not...also i enjoyed helping the people that TRULY needed help (mainly friends with new accounts) i would always give them a little gold to start with and food stuffs for them to have until they could do on there on....i fully agree with this... i might actually start playing again!!!

FREE TRADE AND "OLD" WILDY FTW!!!!!!!!

Respect earns respect, mate and you've earned mine. Perhaps you're right but Jagex have stated that they can deal with bots and such now with their better detection systems. The only way to find that out is to wait and see, I suppose but I'm prepared to take them for their word. I know that RWT has been brought against the law in China now (which according to sources, is responsible for 80-85% of RWT.) and hence, Jagex can now prosecute most RWTers. We may log onto RS the day that free trade might be reinstated and see that the amount of botters has really just remained the same as it has nowadays. The number of bots now might be due to the bot combat systems rather than trade limits having an effect on bots. I'm not saying that's really true but I'm merely speculating and going on what Jagex said of their bot combat technologies. You may be right, I really am not all that certain. We may wind up finding out. Unfortunately, there will always be cheaters because there will always be people with the will to cheat.
As for scam prevention, the only ways for that would be to provide information on how to avoid scams in a place that everyone would see; then learning how to avoid them from experience. Being patient on trade screens and other dodgy deals also would help.
Don't get me wrong, you're right in saying that scammers will return and that's unfortunately an unwanted aspect. Many of us yes voters do want to use the free trade for good rather than despicable acts. I'll be informing players of players who are trying to scam and do my best to ward them away from sources of scammers that I can see in banks and such.

this is a little post to shut up all the noobs who dont want this update
here is how &****;scamming works&****;
*cenario 1:
Players 1 buys 1k mage logs and 1k willows (they used to look like eachother) mage logs are on market price for 1.3k ea he selling in world 18 cammy bank for 800 ea, player 2 sees this and thinks he is about to get the deal of a lifetime, he throws up his 800k for 1.3mil worth of mage logs and clicks away at accept not wanting player 1 to think, player 1 quickly and quitely switches the mage for willows, and clicks accpet himself, now in second trade window if you where smart you would see is says willow logs (x1000) and not magic logs(x1000)... player 2 just spent 800k on maybe 30k of willows...

scenario 2:
before money was colored at diferent mils you could make 4 look like k... a whip was worth about 3mil so player 1 would sell a whip for 3mil player 2 comes and puts up 50004, now that is only 50k but it used to look like 5000k player 1 gets all excited and rapidly clicks accept... in second trade window he SHOULD look and see it saus 50004 and not 5,000,000....

simple enough? scamming cant work anymore bc money has colors and items look dif, and the big flashing exclamtion point!
jagex already stated that they will being moving some things, i do not think drags and clue scrolls should be moved becuase they where there in old rs when i played and i did just fine...
this pole is very fare, people always complaining how people are using mult accounts, i have 3 accounts and yes i voted will all of them, if you think thats unfair well make more and go ahead and hit no...you still gona loose at 1060k votes nomater how many kids vote no its gona happen....
geting lured is your own fault, if kids says oh yeah ill give u p hat if u folow me and u folow, well youre about to learn a life lesson on talking to strangers...
dont wana get pkd then dont go in wildy...

I would love to see the old rs back :) . so some more scamming might happen but im sure theres other ways to combat this and to be honest its kind of your own fault for being stupid enough to fall for a scam. I would like to actually have to think twice before venturing into the wilderness again i hope everyone else who played the old rs agrees with me :)
