Seems like membership cashflow is at the crux of the Jagex decision. I cannot begrudge them for making a living, especially in this hard economic time, but would also suggest that Jagex could "have their cake and eat it too."
I was surprised at how many very high level players that I have known for the 6 years I have played RS who dread (yes, dread) the return of unlimited trade. I was sorely disappointed when I learned many of the people I have closely played with would real-world-cash purchase Gold Points, weapons, and anything else necessary to level a skill quickly. This has nothing to do with 'fairness', but everything to do with integrity.
I have been lured, scammed, phished and fooled in my learning experience in RS. I hold myself fully responsible since all these were in direct disregard for Jagex's strong guidelines on id safety, revealing ****words, scamming, etc. But to make this the atmosphere for RS again, WITH NO CHOICE (if one voted no on the "proposal"
will drive many away. Again, the bottom line is the financial life of RS, and the ones fortunate enough to work for Jagex.
Why not offer worlds that have NONE of these changes? Jagex would benefit from this "icing on the cake."
My personal feelings are that PKing is for the ego based players who have a need to PK, reap the rewards and brag about it. I don't fault them, I just don't like doing it, or having it done. On the reverse side, I (and many friends) play for the fantasy, not the fear. Yeah, suit up and pot up as best you can to survive the Incorporeal Beast when you know you have to. But getting mugged because you're trying to spy a penguin in the wildy is no fun at all. There will be carnage at the lava maze! Oh, the humanity!
With Jagex's success at this game, many others have spawned that allow imagination and ingenuity to form your fantasy life. If I wanted a bloodbath, I'd play WOW or Black Ops.
PKers have such humanitarian instincts that I expect to get flamed for this.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have missed the old wilderness and free trade limit for ages. I dont know why so many complains about scams... when i were a young player i got scammed like 5 times or something, but i dont care. its easy enough to get cash. my conclusion: i cant wait!!!
