This is by far the best update, or should I say reinstatement, that Jagex has announced. I started playing in 2005 with old wilderness and free trade, and yes I had friends that helped me along the way with items, and GP. Im not completely against the new wild, but something needed to be done about the drops. Due to this new wild items have inflated a lot. I mean whips use to be 1.6m when I first started pking in 06-07 and now they are over 3m.
Now, as Jagex stated, the update should be in the best interests of the whole Runescape community. For those of you who have not experienced free trade and old wild I'm sure you will find that it is not just people getting scammed all day for their items and what not. From my point of view, clues and other things were easier with old wilderness due to the amount of worlds there were, and no revenants.
I hope that everyone looks at both the pros and the cons with this proposed update. Just because you are comfortable with one doesn't mean that the other will be any less fun for you. just pay attention to what your doing in game and you will be fine with either old or new wild and free trade.

i get that runescape lost a lot of people from taking away free trade but i reckon it was the right decision, consider children where taking there parents credit cards and etc. to by money. and jagex is left with all the blame and trouble. it has also made it harder to transfer money through accounts when there hacked (: i wreckon it was a smart decision to take away free trade even though they lost people but i would enjoy the old wilderness :D

^thank you, Who Iz You.
And extacybonez
a few weeks ago there was still a HUGE amount of rwt going on, the only difference now is that an employee plays on your account for a few hours and uses a method that makes them about 50m in ten hours. The removal of free trade slowed down rwt for about 5 months and then it came back as strong as ever.

@ExTacYBoNeZ
Kids can still take their parents' credit cards and use them to buy membership. Free trade had absolutely nothing to do with that. =P Membership was the reason that kids would take credit cards of their parents.
Edit: I re-read what you said and realised you said that they took cards to buy gp from RWTers. Heh heh. Well, that's the fault of the parents for being so stupid to leave their credit cards in easily accessed places. What if someone broke into their house? They'd also have no trouble in getting their credit cards.

I know nobody probably wants my 2-bits..but I'm gonna put 'em in here anyway...
For Free trading:
Free trading enables players to give handouts, which I know is enjoyable, it allows for people to show their gratitude for a certain item by paying more than..10k over the market price. It allows lenders to not have to do ALL THREE HUNDRED SOME-ODD QUESTS to lend good items, and get decent revenue from them. It makes player-to-player interaction more flexible all-around, and player trading areas like Big Bank Falador, Big Bank Varrock, etc. will become anew (Plus the addition of the G.E will make it even easier).
Old Wilderness on the other hand;
Wildy brings back a nostalgia feeling for many players of old, it's much more entertaining to pk than with the new system (I.E No more stupid EP)..and to all those people out there saying "Revs will be a danger now, going to mini-games will be a danger now, killing green drags will be a danger now"...Well, listen, READ FOR ONCE. Jagex stated that the Revs will be re-located after the patch, as well as mini-games like Clan Wars. Plus, Green Dragons was always an easy, cheap way to make money. The point is for it to be ACTUALLY DANGEROUS to make 1m per hour by sitting there with a Dwarf Multicannon.
On the other hand, botting and RWT (Which has been the main argument for this) could and probably will return, but it's not like they left. RWT still took place, although most sites were scams. Botting is still terrible in many fishing areas, wcing areas and even mining areas. Mostly in F2P, where you see many 90+ Lv 3 bots with only one skill above 30. RWT DID still take place, although it would be easier now with free trading, people used to gold farm on different accounts and pay for it, like I said, most were scam sites.
So....hmm...I'd say a lot more reasons to BRING IT BACK than to throw it away. I've had probably at least 5 old friends come back since the referendum was made official F.Y.I. That's my 2-bits...
