Jagex took the high road 3 years ago when they decided to combat RWT.
Real world trading will definitely increase with the return of free trade as was mentioned by Mr Osborne on the opening page of his forum post. Its quite simple, With free trade I can sell the santa I'm wearing for real world cash. $20.00? $50.00?
Could I sell 1 million gps for $.50? 1 billion for $500.00? At that rate you can count on folks world over employing folks using legitimate accounts to make the gps to sell for real world cash, and probably alot less than $1.00 an hour if not a day. If there is a way of making real world cash for something than you can count on folks doing it.
Also free trade brings real world wealth to the game. Going by the random figures I just mentioned (but not unrealistic) someone that has and extra $500.00 can just whip out a credit card and purchase 1 billion gps in a matter of minutes. No need to spend the time earning and working for it. Remember those lvl 3's without the overall xp to have possibly earned the gps for a blue phat running around with them? I certainly do.
Right now "botting" mostly consists of 2 things:
1- Scripts folks use to have their accounts repeat certain tasks.
2- Leveling services that folks pay to lvl their accounts and gain gps.
Botting for the sole purpose of gathering items to be sold for gps, to be sold for real world cash has been greatly reduced by the elimination of free trade.
Botting and RWT go hand in hand.
Again Runescape took the high road a couple years ago and decided to put a stop to their contribution to this. I'm sure they hoped others would follow but unfortunately cash talks. Jagex is now considering giving up on this and following other online games that put the mighty dollar above all else. Folks obviously don't really care about the effect this will have on RWT as long as they can have an easier time getting gps and items into their accounts.

free trade was great! drop parties, the giving out money and items to friends and all of it.
There have been many ways of combating "scamming" in trades implemented and people have a massive warning sign and a pit to jump over so pretty much a disclaimer.
I'd love to see free trade put back into the game.

The old wilderness too! the wilderness was probably the most exciting way of making money in the game and much more profitable than todays wilderness.

The vote shouldn't have been to bring back the old wilds, it should have been for bringing back the old pvp system. It seems that players talking about respect and honor amongst pkers are more unhappy with the reward system than the actual wilds themselves. I'de be all for the old pvp system but I don't fell it should be forced on all worlds.
It's not right to deny players a part of the game because thay don't want the risk associated with pvp. At the same time it's not right that pvp players have the loot taken outa their victory.

Let the botters bot, let people spend their money on worthless in-game coins - I'll enjoy making friends in falador park, scavenging for that extra million off the item I want and cheer as my friend gets a nice loot while PKing, sweating the whole fight because WE WANT THAT LOOT, WE KNOW IT'S WORTH THE TROUBLE.
Jagex, I salute you. You done good.
Love,

For the people complaining about botting, WHY would JAGEX try to stop them? They keep raw materials in the game for everyone else, without them the economy would crash. For example, there are somewhere around 5,000 firemaking capes in the game, each one takes around 13,000 maple logs, that is around 65,000,000 maple logs burnt (not counting the ones who went over 13m experience). Do you think that actual players cut all of those? Not a chance. Another point, maple trees are a members only tree, jagex is making a TON of money off of the bots that cut maples, and magics, and catch sharks all while they keep the economy afloat.
Jagex will make it look like they are cracking down by banning one or two every now and then, but it would be suicidal to ban every one of them.
Sorry for the wall of text / spelling mistakes (if any), I'm on my iPod and autocorrect hates me.

Don't mind me; I'm not here. I said I was done posting here. I just note with approval that some are still here giving the new/returning class of players reason to demonstrate exactly what we opponents have been saying since the thread started. Thanks Pkers and botters for proving us right over and over.
