Okay, so let me see if I understand:
You are contemplating restoring the original wild and lifting trade limits to restore free trade. You are polling the community to get our opinion. If I like the idea, I can go to the linked page and register my vote. If I don't like the idea, I can - not vote at all. And, of course, if I'm one of those who doesn't pay much attention to announcements, or AFK for the holidays, or stalked off after having a hissy fit over some little update, I won't be voting either.
Well, not the most scientific of statistical methods. You'll get a good feel for how many people are hot for the idea, but not for how many people hate the idea. Still, I doubt there are too many people who'll have a major kinipshin over seeing the original wildy back. So, if it floats your boat, I guess it's okay.
Just one thought. I am very concerned about some of the old badness coming back if you try this, but I'm not willing to let that get in the way of trying it out. However, I don't want to see another round of flaming community rage if you try this and then have to cut back the wild and restore trade limits again. It would be very, very bad if you gave this to the community and then were forced to take it back again. So, if you decide to restore the wild and free trade, can we call it a trial effort? Make it very clear that it's a trial effort? So people won't be quite so furious if it goes bad and has to be undone?
Leave open the option of scrapping the idea if the effort proves to have too many problems after, say, two or three months. If, instead, things still look good after two or three months, you can then announce a victory for your software and your staff.
