I am going to fully honest here and express the good and bad of the return of the Free Trade + Wilderness.
The point of the wilderness was to compete with the random people you meet in order to receive good loot. If you go out with nothing, you will win nothing. See? Want a safer way to duel? They made an arena for that.
The reason people disliked the Wilderness was because Runescape was poorly made with the ability to lose items in an instant that took you weeks, maybe months to obtain. The value of items go way up and having people die and lose them to the systems anti-spam-on-the-floor... it just isn't fair.
I quit this game years ago. I can safely say it was due to the freedom of the game being slowly removed before my eyes.
-The speech was prevented even with the simplest of "rude" words and having people report just for "Good Marks" even when morals say the reported has done little wrong.
-The trade was constricted, so that price manipulation was done by a computer, and not by player demand.
-The danger of the wilderness, ruined. The more aggressive players turned to attacking others verbally, or quitting, to cause the game to go into 'secure mode' where everyone who plays is under the age of 10.
These and more make the game unfriendly, and unfair to say the least. Bringing back the free trade and the wilderness not only won't make me play again, but it won't change what has been done with the new updates that challenge freedom such as the Grand Exchange and the God-Swords.
However, if these two simple things do return, I will respect the game just that much more. It won't be a failure in my eyes, only a decent game that has had major downturns.
Personal P.S. - I blame the new Decision Maker back at Jagex Corp.
Thanks,
