Ok that is awesome. But maybe have a little word to the pmods who are saying help with events isn't something you are doing, just to have everyone on the same page. The first few pages of this thread confused me as some posts were contradicting the twitter post I followed.
As for the whole initiative, I think it's great and sounds like a lot of fun, good luck with it all and hopefully I will be able to attend some of them but being Australian it may be difficult.
I know that AOROX' events are mostly convenient for Australian based players, due to him being there. They are independent events (though some are joint), but they're regular, and fun. Perhaps you'd enjoy trying those, till the PsP starts hosting/supporring more for that timezone (and after!)?
I should first clarify that I absolutely believe that there are still PMods and JMods who are entirely suited for the job as I perceive it. But it is appallingly apparent that it's very much a "who you know" game. There are simply too many players who view the PMod crown as a symbol to distinguish themselves from "the rest"; a visible marker to denote one's superiority. Again, I cannot stress enough that this is not true of all PMods, and perhaps not even the majority.
But I do strongly get the impression that many of the more active, "friendly" players (be they "the rest" aiming for PMod, or those who have successfully played the system) are just that: playing the system... There's almost an obsequiousness about some of them; something which doesn't quite sit right.
And I'll be the first to admit that I'm not perfect, but I do think I am very capable of spotting the signs in others (takes one to know one, perhaps). I'm not calling for PMods to cease to be a thing. I'm not going to name and shame anyone. I would just really appreciate it if someone at Jagex were to read this message and consider what I'm saying. Honestly and objectively consider it and think about whether there is a kernel of truth in what I'm saying.
People often complain aggressively about PMods in a way which allows FMods and/or JMods to shut them down without actually addressing the content of their concerns. It doesn't solve the underlying problem and the frustration builds for these people. I'm hoping that I've been amiable enough to avoid simply having this post hidden or ignored.
I want to open up dialogue about what to me and to others is an issue which is hurting the game. By no means is it the only issue, but it's one which I feel strongly enough to have written this.
All that said, assuming this FC doesn't fast-track unsuitable player into PMod positions, I like the sound of it. I just worry too much that it's inevitably going to happen :/

That is my primary topic of discussion for an upcoming meeting! Mod Jon has really helped to clarify our goals though, and no matter what, you can count on at least some members of the team to always be willing to help out where help is needed.
I know for sure that Sseuss, Twillow, and myself are interested in this particular function of the team (only because they've directly said it so far...I don't want to put words in my teammates' mouths!). We'll get everything on the same page.
If I can address that Nox, that is not at all the goal of the FC. I know I'm not a Jmod
So I can't actually affect much in terms of policy. However, this fc was created solely for the purpose of an event space.
I think that there is a lot of stigma around such places, and that behavior witnessed in some very popular FC's sparks this sort of discussion. Players do know how to make themselves visible, that's for sure! I hope that Mod Neena will see your post and response, because I think she would have some great things to tell you that might reassure you!
Like any bit of life, there will always be people who strive for titles and positions merely for the distinction. It's part of our reality, even in our relaxation zone or our fun time (because we choose to play a game that involves real people, rather than NPC's). Taking the good in with the bad is something I resigned myself to. I'll just keep doing good until I can't anymore.
Thanks for phrasing yourself so well, and I hope you get at least some of the answer you were looking for!

Yeah, I don't doubt the good intentions of this FC at all. I look forward to using it and wish it every success.
I just figured this would be a good place to post the more general concerns that people have, since my worry is that the FC has the potential to contribute to the problem.

This would certainly be great, and I would absolutely welcome any response by any JMod

Yup, of course you speak the truth. There's just a really large part of me which wishes that there could be any community in which the people who get into positions of power/status are thoroughly vetted (and I know that the guys at Jagex do their best, and I recognise and appreciate that people make mistakes in judging others - I'm guilty of this as much as anyone).
