What does the community management team actually do?

I've been wondering the same thing. Events are crap in comparison to what they used to be, there is no interaction with the community, and so on. Makes one wonder what they are truly doing.

Depends on which event you go to - typically combat minigames are more popular and will have a bigger turnout.

You'll see us posting across the forums, reddit and other social medias. We're constantly coming up with new events and competitions (assume you saw the Christmas forum, and the facebook one too), as well as livestreaming, videoing and planning for upcoming events.

What would you like to see more of from us?

Don't you also look after the forums? Make sure everything's running smoothly with forumers, forum-mods and take on new forum-mods and player-mods??

They are clearly exaggerating their actions, while the truth is that they do little to nothing useful. When did the last Forum Mod recruitment take place? For all I know, only Vand got recruited while Applejuice became a Dual Mod. Likewise for Player Mods.

I used to be a highly active member of the community at one point, but things were ignored as they are now, with Jagex Mods simply pumping their words in the end of how they interact and connect with the community.

Posting across the forums, reddit and other social media, she says. Clearly it's posting alone, not interacting with the community and being truly one-sided, since if it would be open and fair, many complaints would be seen. Many out of which the majority is simply ignored.

How are we to believe your words when there is no result shown? No changes in the moderating team, although with this much activity, there should be. No desires fulfilled that the majority used to and still is actively expressing.

I used to oppose these ways since late 2011. Have been in an active pursuit of change in the approach towards the community and swallowed all those made-up words about hard work and Jagex connecting with the community all this time. I own few of the biggest and most expanded threads in the Suggestions and Rants section, most created back in 2012.

Try to guess, how much were we listened to? How much has actually been done for the sake of the community? One can easily post some content externally of reddit or social websites as well as inform the community about the recent hip & happenings. It's not something I would personally go ahead and be proud of doing. Doing so delivers nothing, maybe only happiness to those that are overflown by elitism and appreciate every gold J-Mod post. Emphasize on "gold".
Divine embrace,
Haruna

Hey,

The Community Management basically get involved with the RS community in a number of ways. We see a number of awesome players on the forums and in game and also take that extra step to get to know players on different social platforms too. =)

We take part in community events, join in players in-game achievements, host competitions, give away prizes, organise player visits and even help out with events and the preparation and many other things. We're interested in what the RS community get up to. We almost act as a platform between the RS players and the RS team here at Jagex HQ. We get your feedback, find out what works and what doesn't, we pass feedback on to the team to make necessary changes. =) Alternatively, if a decision has been made we are usually the team that let the players know via different platforms (Forums, Social Media... etc).

I have to say, having been part of this team since September (7 months) I've met the most amazing people in this community. =)

@Subpairo - you may not be aware but the team have undergone many changes in the last few years. As with any company, things change all the time and we have to adapt to each change as it comes along.

Over the last few years, the Community Management team have made huge differences to how the team reach out to the players of the game.

You mentioned: Posting across the forums, reddit and other social media, she says. Clearly it's posting alone, not interacting with the community and being truly one-sided, since if it would be open and fair, many complaints would be seen. Many out of which the majority is simply ignored.

We understand that not everyone uses the RuneScape Forums - some players want to share their images and pictures which we don't yet have the option to do on the forums. I enjoy seeing player's achievements on Reddit and Twitter, I love reading the different discussions on the forums and I like the fact that I can get involved.

I'm sure there are always ways in which we can improve and we're learning this as we go along. Interacting with the community is something that I have personally enjoyed. It's about working together to make the game and community better. Complaining doesn't really help unless you're offering constructive criticism.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. It's been great getting to know and meet you all. =D

Nice to meet you, sorry I didn't find this sooner, loved reading this thread

That's okay. I've been part of the Community Management team for a while now. You'll probably see more of my randomness in game and on the forums a lot more moving forward. :)

EDIT: Glad you've enjoyed reading it. I enjoy answering player queries too, one thing that I'd like to think the CM team do is add a little more visibility to the players and also make sure comments from you all are passed on to the team. Hopefully players that have interacted with me and other members of CM this year have seen that and work with us to make things better over the next year. ^_^
