Long story short, I was just able to change my name from kilometer_18 back to my original (created before, but forgot about it, so I put a space in the new one) name without the space.

The space in my username has been bothering me for about 10 years.

Edit: This is my first post in 6+ years, so I wasn't sure if the Month/Year visible next to the post was account creation date or not, but it looks like our "most recent" sub date, which is disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing an August 2004 beside my post, but I guess not.

Maybe next time they should release the names in batches throughout the day without telling us what ones are released when?

It could be pretty simple to implement using a RNG. They could divide the total number of names being released by 24 or 48 or 96 or something then assign them all a number and release * number every few minutes. This would hopefully keep everyone from using the name change feature at the same exact time :P
