No one has pointed out quite the extent to which this comparison is flawed:

As a player, Jacmob was not supporting the RS community - he was supporting the botting community. He never attempted to support the larger/legitimately playing community. When he became a JMod though, those were his intentions - to decimate the power of the illegitimate community to which he had previously belonged. The controversial move to make him a JMod was broadly in line with Jagex' intentions. They were recruiting someone with the expertise necessary to aid them in their endeavour: getting rid of bots. Also: It was THEIR thing (THEIR job to get rid of bots).

Now we have the "Year of the PLAYER" (a thing of/for PLAYERS). Jagex is "working on ways to get closer to the community" by enhancing their "community-centric ethos" and recruiting JMods who "represent the diverse, committed, passionate and dynamic nature of RuneScape." The premise upon which they recruited So Wreck3d was that he was committed and passionate about RuneScape and supportive of that ethos they call "community-centric."

So Wreck3d has always claimed to be supporting the community and Jagex, and his role as a JMod will be to do just that! However, he has admitted (and we have heard extremely incriminating evidence) that he has been very much against the community and Jagex. We are dealing with someone who has claimed to be doing something, has gotten to a place because of his claims - claims which have been proven false.

The difference is that what got Jacmob to where he is, is TRUE: he is an expert on bots. What got Wreck3d to where he is, is NOT TRUE: he is NOT completely and utterly dedicated to the community.

It's true, we do all make mistakes and have flaws. But that's not the issue. The issue is that a newly instated JMod has said and done things that strongly contradict his public image which was precisely the reason for his becoming a JMod. Such a person should not be in any position of power.

Kudos to him for standing to what he said and trying to explain it. For all I care, not having heard of him prior to this week, he can keep on posting videos, hosting live chats, etc. - all that is good and fine - THAT is HIS thing, not ours.
