I was an RS player since roughly 2002, recently cancelled my subscription on my main, and also my pure (this account). Here are just some reasons why I decided to pull the plug.
Hotkeys: I laugh every time i think about the fact that they actually added this s**t to the game. Runescape was unique in its own way, if I wanted to button mash I'll go play WoW.
XP rates: Experiments, maybe i missed something but before EOC the experiment would give 400 xp per kill, not 75. They were the perfect training for a pure. Now they are useless. This royally pi**ed me off.
The Q&A: I'm confused when its stated that the EOC was not going to be released until the community was on board. As far as I can tell from asking around, roughly 87% of people are not on board and never were. I suppose 13% can still pay the bills? I also saw a mentioning of raids. Which made me realize the goal of Jagex. You can't match what WoW has already done. So if your intention is to try and mimic them in order to get their players, you are going to be sorely disappointed.
Prayer: ...WTF?
There are more reasons but I'm bored with this post so I'll wrap it up with one final thought. When RS classic became RS2, many players threatened to quit because they did not like the change. However RS2 resulted in those players staying and the addition of many new ones. Then the GE and wilderness removal resulted in many players quitting, however alot of them came back (me for example). The point being that change caused many to quit initially but they eventually came back.
This is different, this update did something that those other major updates could not do. It stripped Runescape of its identity. It took away the foundations that made it unique. This time, i guarantee players will not be back. RS2 will forever be known as the golden years of RS, living only in the shadow of the mistake that is the EOC.

hey guys, cant believe how u take this great change. Whimps or what? Now it takes a warrior men and women to do pking rlly! The usability of abilities and cb styles/gears/other stuff...just great! I cant see what u r whining here? And most of all - we all have been always putting best effort on and crying for faster lvling and xp gaining. Now we got it. So what is wrong with u? almost 7 years of Rs on behind me btw

Hello everyone, and jagex. i would like to say that turning runescape from rs2 into eoc was a terrible mistake. Ive disliked previous updates but none of them have i hated so much that i actually quit my membership, and all together quit the game. It was horrible for me to see the game go in the direction it is. As i have seen many people say, this game was a small part of my childhood, but a good one! I hate to say it, but i agree with most of the other players that are on this forum. RS2 will go down in history as the best that runescape has ever been, everyone that played runescape played it because it wasn't like WOW or other games and it was unique. For those who don't know what 2005 runescape was I feel bad because what they have turned this game into isn't runescape. It is a copy of WOW and this is why i have to say farwell to runescape
