While I congratulate the winner I cannot help thinking that it is a bit of a standard composition. In my opinion, I think some of the others should have won. My favourite was the tune in the medley that starts at 14:20, it sound really beautifully epic, something I could picture the whole of Gielinor honouring Guthix's memory and standing against all the gods to.
Agreed, that had a nice peaceful tone yet i could tell it was building up to something big, would've like to heard more, but the winner wasn't bad at all but to me it felt as if it was made for a trailer for RuneScape, not a theme.
Overall I'm thankful that none of the dub-step or techno music won, since that would've completely thrown of the tone of the game.
It was such a difficult job finding a winner from so many different genres. I mean how do you compare a metal track with dubstep with orchestral with acoustic. It's all obviously subjective but we have certainly chosen a worthy winner. It was also important to showcase as many different styles as possible in the medleys. Amazing effort by everyone involved and a shame I could only share a small percentage of entries. Hope you enjoy listening though!
I think the main part of the prize is having your music immortalized in game for everyone to hear. As a musician that's what I want... to have my music heard by as many people as possible
The number of computer generated songs is too damn high!
It may surprise you, but most people don't have access to either multiple instruments or a full orchestra, either of which would pretty much be required to win the contest.

Congrats to Maxreidneer
I'm really glad the winner wasn't dubstep or metal or whatever, partly because I dislike those styles but also partly because it's nice to have all the theme songs in the 'classical' genre and they fit with the medieval/fantasy setting of Runescape. That said, the runners-up were great too
I can honestly say that when Jagex announced the competition I didn't for a minute thing anything that good would be submitted, but I guess I can take that back and go live in a hole for a bit
