First Q&A: Follow-up Questions

Anyway now that my rant about cats is over, I'd like to take a moment of your time to write up a question for y'all at maison de la JaGex.
Now I know that unless you have a time machine then it's almost impossible to tell me the exact events of the future but we all know the inclusion of micro-transactions in Runescape is very much due to JaGex wanting some fiscal flexibility and enough real-life GP to keep them open for business and for further developments, so, if (hypothetically) JaGex were satisfied with the annual returns and profits (membership fees, SoF, SGS, WoL and cookie sales included) would there be any chance of this content being removed?
Secondly, for whomever reads this, what's your view on the Squeal of Fortune? It'd be good to read something a little less biased and personal. I mean, I imagine that some JMods shifted in their seats a little when they heard about this update. it was a tough measure to take no doubt, but is it really worth the widespread dissatisfaction? Personally I don't mind the SoF but I'd like to see another opinion from somebody behind the scenes

Cake Thief - On the first point, I'm not really in a position to know about the future of MTX in RuneScape or the possibility of it ever being removed, that's a question to save for the next Q&A session with the big dogs!
As for my own opinion on SoF, i'll keep it brief, as I have mentioned this a few times before.
I play RuneScape mainly on my own to relax, and spend most of my time quietly working away on my skills. I take great pleasure in my achievements in RuneScape, but I have never felt the need to judge myself based on other people's achievements. It doesn't matter to me if anyone wants to buy spins or use the store, it's their game after all, they can play it however they want to (Within the rules OFC
). I guess that is why i have some trouble understanding the reaction of some players to the update, as another player getting an xp lamp really means nothing to me.
I have bought a few spins, but I'm mostly a fan of the cosmetics in Solomon's store, I'm mad for customization of characters in games, and love the options it gives me.
Almost all MMOs that are coming out nowadays are moving towards a more MTX based system to fund their games, as it keeps subscription costs low, and allows players to pay for exactly what they want, without making them shoulder the cost of items that they don't.

Many people are rather competitive, it's in our nature to strive to reach our potential and be the best we can possibly be. I share the same attitude as you though - I'd happily just stand at Ardougne Baker's stall and thieve cakes whilst talking to my clan and friends and not care about anything else in-game!
The community is important to me, if there was any reason at all for me having even the slightest disliking towards the Squeal of Fortune it would be due to how the community has reacted. It hasn't been received well, that's common knowledge. I'm just very glad, almost over-the-moon if gravity didn't stop me short, that these Q&A sessions are taking place. Hopefully this will raise the morale of the troops, keep up the faith and inspire people, showing them that these move by JaGex was indeed controversial but ultimately it's in the best interests of the game's future.
And thanks for taking the time to reply, I know how tedious it can be to repeat yourself but at least you get paid to do it!
I guess MTX has simply been associated with inequality and undermining a game's legitimacy. Perhaps this is just the way forward, the modern-day method in an internet-dominated world.
Sometimes change is just hard to accept, but I have full faith in you guys that this will keep us enjoying the game. For that i'm grateful.
