It was late June. It was one of the most beautiful days I had seen, and my family just happened to be having our annual summer picnic on this perfect day. I invited a bunch of my closest friends, a few noteworthy being my best friends Kim and Hannah, and my cousin who might as well be my brother, Alex.
Usually, my picnics include a pig roast and live music, but what I found became very popular was "Water Pong." Neither me nor any of my friends were old enough to play Beer Pong, so instead we filled solo-cups with water and set it up like Beer Pong. It was a one-on-one game, and the rules were simple: if a ping-pong ball lands in a cup on your side, you dump that cup on your head; when one side runs out of cups, the side who still has cups dumps theirs on the loser's head. It was awesome.
After a few games that left my friends and I soaking wet, we all decided to make our way to the beach down the street to watch the sunset on the horizon. I kept making fun of Alex because he was constantly hitting on Kim, and when we were actually at the beach, I was constantly trying to keep them apart.
The most noteworthy moment of the entire day, however, was when one of my friends took a picture of Kim and I facing the glowing orange sunset just as it was disappearing behind a building. It was an amateur picture, but it became my most fond memories of summer and will immortalize that perfect day forever.
Here, go ahead and bask in the photo I rave so much about:
