M1ichael: Wow after reading a good amount of the responses on this thread there must be a whole heck of alot of people that have low self esteem or something about how they look... Complaining about how they have to show themselfs, or just in general to make a video lol. I make tons of Youtube video's with my wife too, just my RSN on Youtube search will show that I am not joking.
BUT I can understand the bits and parts of those that don't have the ability or access to a camcorder or whatever though that's understandable.
I think video way is the best though, cause it's just more legit. And you can see your fellow RuneScape players in rl which is cool. It's something that gets people very interactive with the community. And instead of reading paragraphs (To those that are complaining there isn't a a "Written section" there is a easier to do "Listening to 45 seconds) instead of Reading which takes Longer. But regaurdless I have just sent my video in, so let's hope for the best!
I agree with that statement fully. Good way of putting it
I was so excited when i saw the prizes, but then saw was a video entry.
But then im like LIFETIME MEM up for grabs, Ill give it a shot! =]
So excited!!!
Once again, I am going to make my point (And everyone else's) much clearer and precise and more detailed...Not everyone here has a web cam or a microphone to use for making a video of themselves. And those who have it might not want to for security purposes or any other reason. And while I realize somebody said it does not have to be a video of yourself, this does not make it any easier. Why? Well, if you don't have a web cam or a smartphone, then how in the world is one supposed to make a video testimonial of why they're so fond of RuneScape?
Now I have been part of RuneScape since early September of 2007. And I have seen this game go through many changes, most good but some bad. Now I do not even have the appropriate software or know-how to even make a piece of computerized art, so the only option left for me is writing. And I am incredibly good at writing. Jagex, if you can tweak this contest out for the writers like me and the artists like other people, I am certain it will be for the best.
If not, well...Then I hope and pray you don't lose to many customers.
Just my two cents worth...Cheers to you and everyone else!
You peer into a Chapel of Zamorak, which appears to be abandoned. Before you can close the doors again, a Revenant Chaos-Bringer flies at you and slays you instantly with a bolt of Shadow Lightning. Oh dear! You are dead!
We are Legion! We are runescape players!
WE ARE THE 1% OF THE RUNESAPE POPULATION (2 MILLION)
... the other 99% are bots ( 198m bot accounts )!!!!
Nonetheless, you did mention 200m registered account, it doesnt have to be 200m real players or 50% players at least (having 2 or 3 accounts)...
SO GRATZ on being the game with the most bots ;-)
Had a laugh at Nozferatu. Fondess memories at the wilderness. I bet most of the first time players would've had the same reaction. Mine was finding the wild, with my big 500 gp (yes I was rich) and chicken as food and tools that were given from tutorial island. Being told to kill the hill giant for rune armour was a big buzz. 2 hits dead and back in lumbridge. Devasted all my gp was gone and my chicken.
Made mine last night. It is alright... My account was made before Tutorial Island was made. In fact, I created this account when you would choose which type of character you wanted to be, Melee, Magic, or Ranged. I chose Mage, my older brother chose Ranger.
Doing what I can with what I am given.

This 'video' competition is not the issue at all. How Jagex wishes to 'celebrate' this milestone is entirely up to them. They wish players to submit Video's, so be it. If they wanted us to 'write' a submission, all the power to them too.
It is in the end, irrelevant, because this 200,000,000 account milestone is achieved from an arguably invalid source, as a vast portion of this number represents cheaters, botters and gold farming/adbot accounts. Jagex on the surface claims it is 'Players', by the way that they use the counter, and now this competition. Oh sure they go on to say 'accounts', but it is just a clever word game. The first 'impression' when someone loads the Homepage, is "Players" since Launch.
I see someone has spouted the words "Who Cares?". This is why Jagex is moving the foundation of this game from their Loyal and Legitimate community, to one that will buy spins, not care about bots and will continue to support Jagex's membership revenues, even though they quietly change the rules and openly display their change of ethos.
I care, that is why this celebration is and insult from my point of view. It is just another example of how the Spirit of the Game is dying, while Jagex invents reasons to Celebrate an obvious failure, and continues to ignore their Loyal Players.
