Evolution? the clan world is dying. There are less clans now then there were last year. The plans of 2011 being the year of the clans failed miserably. Sorry if this post was harsh but i've been in a clan since 2004 and the clan world has just been getting worse and worse each year.
I had an idea for Runescape that I always thought would be pretty interesting, but I'm not sure... As well as clans, would it be a bad idea to have like; partnerships? Or for example, like a friendship thing. The Co-op slayer had given me an idea, on your friends list, it could say like, their name and friendship points or something below that, which could be earnt by doing stats in the vacinity of that person, who is on your friends list. So; like, if you spend four hours fishing with someone, you might get 80 points or something, which can then, at milestones provide pasive bonuses when you're near that person. So if you have 1000 points with someone you might be able to hit 5% extra damage with all weapons. Or at 500 there might be 2% extra experience with every skill. And you could even add the bonuses to Co-op slayer. Say, doubling the passive friendship bonuses while on a slayer assignment with that person. I'm not sure, it just seems co-op slayer wasn't as well recieved as it should have been, and I think that might be because the rewards are just not as worth doing. You get even less experience... This might be a way to change things and reward people by spending time with their friends; even bring a whole new aspect to the game.
Good job, the clans have really advanced (in a good way) since they started. I think they are headed in a good path and are down right amazing and are making a brighter future for Runescape.
I love the fact how Jagex acknowledged the fact there was clans floating around out there, and been in the game for 9 years now i've seen a lot of progression since rs classic. And one of the coolest things ive seen is when the adopted the fact of clans, and added a clan channel. Not only that, but now a day's clans compete, sometimes a lot of rivalry but there is always fun the process.
I totally agree this history is flawed but hey memory is always biased. Many many good clans around in that time were missed out and some are still around now. I was in the Sabres way back when and I loved being able to fight wherever we wanted.
