-A couple of Video Editing and Filming Tips-
--EDITING TIPS:
Editing is just as important as the filming or the actors, because it is the final cut on what your video will be.
When you are editing, the best idea is to start by laying out all of your video clips (Unedited) in order. Watch this, and speculate about what will fit best, and what needs to be cropped out.
Try to crop out running scenes, silences between speaking, or idle animations.
One of the best ideas for matching your audio with the text, is to speak out all of your lines as if they would happen first, then edit the text to fit. Crop out any unneeded text-time, or double up on text footage to match how long it takes you to speak the lines.
Be sure you are reading from what you've typed, having different audio from the text on your screen is really annoying.
A Big thing about editing you need to be sure of, is when your done, watch your clip all the way through before you save. Nothings worse then editing for three hours to find out you misspelled your user name, or edited a scene wrong.
Also, constantly click the save button. If your project corrupts after so long of editing, and you don't have backup files, you won't be happy.
--FILMING TIPS:
A good idea is to take "Still shots" (motionless clips for a few seconds) at the beginning, and end of each scene. This helps to make sure you can get all of your motion in, as well as find the places to edit easier.
Take multiple angles of difficult shots or text, in-case one you make doesn't look well in your video.
TEXT TIMING. Try and wait until the first person who is actually speaking is done until the next one starts. Overlapping text is extremely hard to edit, and is a pain when you're trying to do lines.
Camera shots. Make sure there's nothing blocking your camera. If you're trying to film and you've got a tree or something in the way, it can get ugly.
I hope this helps you all, and good luck on your competition videos
