I read the whole main post but stopped reading the responses a bit later on. I understand that people want to renew the roleplay community on here and refill it but I will be simple with this. People can join but what drove a lot of the people away in the past, that I've noticed, is the toxicity of the community itself. There's hatred between people and groups and obvious bias toward and against things. It's the honest reason I left the community.

When I left, I was tired of seeing the obvious disdain between players which affected the roleplays. Groups blacklisting groups. People hating on people. The fact of the matter is that this community is fairly political in many spheres of meaning. Some people acknowledge NPCs and some people acknowledge player leadership. Those differences in opinion drive people away from each other and fractures the community as a whole. Differences in perspective and personality always fracture the community.

There's too much tearing this community apart that new players cannot even mend this rift. All we'll do is fill this community with new members who will still be subjected to the toxicity within the community. In all honesty, I'm barely staying back in roleplay because of how broken this community is but I stay because there are people I enjoy roleplaying with. I try to ignore this community and its problems because all it is is unnecessary stress and bullshit.

Roleplay is meant to be fun, not toxic. Until the community sets aside this toxicity toward one another and unites under one perspective, it will decline. We know that this community will not unite all too well.

See, I'm not wanting to be pessimistic in this, because I loved roleplay here once, but the fact of the matter is that this is the reality of the situation.

I remember being "recruited" by people being in character while skilling on W41. This is one of the critical things that got me into rping when I finally got a membership about a month or two later. I just hopped onto W42 and joined the rping here. They probably weren't even rping as their "main" character, just someone they made up on the spot for that conversation.

I think this is a very viable method to recruit, especially if you get a couple of people to join in. Go to some of the events like the Fayre, or a popular skilling/bank area area(bring some friends if you'd like), where there's almost always some people around and have some conversations about the area. Include the people around you, and if they react badly, just back off. You are bound to run into run into a lot of trolls and afkers this way, but those paying attention could be very interested if they are on W42. Why else would they be here if not to rp? (you could probably do this on other worlds too, albeit wit conciderably less success. )

Two of the areas I remember are the wolves near the Burthorpe bank (the other rper was killing them for their bones as a money making method) and the crafting guild. These aren't the best areas, but it was where I first got introduced to roleplaying on runescape. I wouldn't have known about going to Falador to find other roleplay era until either someone told me about it or I stumbled across it on day. Even then, had I had not been introduced, I would not have had the courage to join in because I was so new to rping at the time. Going to a popular slayer area would be a good idea for recruiting because you could make a legitimate excuse to be there, especially if your character is a combatant. (Just don't die while still ic. That would be a tiny bit embarrassing and bad...)

This is probably the most efficient method I can think of for recruiting other than Lady Thalia's social media plan
