The first heavy dusting of snow had fallen over the Valley of Kings. From the Wall and to the slopes of the White Wolf, the usual harsh winter was making it's first appearance. Howling icy wings blew as a calmness overtook the Valley. The time for campaigning had come to an end, any ideas put off until the first thaw that coming spring. The trolls burrowed into their caves, leaving the last raids to fall into disaster by the prepared Imperial Legions that now turned their attention to far simpler duties than fighting in Troll Land.
The Palace of Kings was built by Varis the Great Centuries prior. A tomb rested there of every Grey Monarch, from the very first and to the very last. From Varis the Great, to King James the Redeemer, Saint Erysail the Good, and Queen Jane the Fool. It acted now as the seat of government for Burthorpe and with the Empress and her Council wintering in Burthorpe, it housed the whole of the Imperial Court.
Burthorpe was blessed with a small taste of the far away Imperial Crimson Court. With countless ministers, nobles and merchants petitioning to the Empress as the winter grew more intense quickly.
The Imperial Legions made quick work upon the Burthorpe Wall, as days turned into weeks and weeks into months now stationed in the Valley, much needed repairs and additions added to the ancient wall.
