The King's Cabinet
Onkin to any Privy Council or Inner Circle, the members of the Cabinet acts as the centralized governing body underneath the King. They can pass Laws to the King for approval and for inner changes. The King selects the members of the Cabinet. All members of the Cabinet must be landed nobility.

In no order of importance;

The Lord (Lady) Marshal of the Imperial Guard - Acting as the sole Commander of the standing Imperial Guard forces. Outside the local nobility guards and Knights, the Imperial Guard is the only large standing military force that actively polices and protects the Kingdom. In times of war, the greater body of the nobility will be called up with a ranking noble being named Marshal alongside the Marshal of the Imperial Guard.

The Lord (Lady) Chancellor of Burthorpe - Seen as the right hand of the Crown, the Chancellor’s role is ensuring the monarch’s vision is filled. Acting as the Lord President of the Estates-General, they are the direct line of communication between the Estates and the Crown.

The Lord (Lady) Justice - Dealing with all forms of Justice and Laws, the Lord (Lady) Justice enjoys the King’s Mercy and the Erysalite Code is enforced across the Kingdom.

The Lord (Lady) Admiral - Charged with the running and protection of Burthorpe’s waters and trade routes. They work closely with both the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Marshal of the Imperial Guard.

The Archbishop of the Church - The highest ranking member of the clergy underneath the monarch themselves. Sees to the daily running of the Church of Burthorpe and mentors the Cabinet on matters of the Faith.

The Chancellor of Exchequer - The sole purpose is to ensure the economy of the Kingdom and the treasury never goes negative. By any means.

The Estates-General (Maybe)

The Estates-General is the parliament of the Kingdom of Burthorpe. It serves as a forum for members of the three political classes of Burthorpe to raise concerns and debate and challenge Secretariat proposals. These classes are:
The Clergy,
The Nobility,
The Merchant Guilds,

Only members of these castes may present themselves at a conference of the Estates-General.

All matters presented to and debated by the Estates-General are to make recommendation for the Monarch only. No matter decided in the chamber is binding. The King of Burthorpe wields absolute executive and legislative power. The Chamber serves for the airing of opinions and deciding upon best advised policy positions and sorting out details.

The Lord President is:
The Deputy Speaker is: Undeclared

Matters presented in the Estates-General may be of general consideration topic, or direct at one of the The King's Cabinet members, (above post). All may make considerations and proposals for recommendation to HM the King but at least one Cabinet member must be present and either the President or Deputy Speaker for a session to take place.

The Nobility
The Nobles of Burthorpe are a proud and stiff neck group. They are the wartime generals, the peace time keepers. They see to the day to day running of their fiefs, pay taxes to the King and Crown, train their Knights, Men-At-Arms, and Peasants.

To become of Noble Birth, you must show proof of nobility going back 5 generations or, become Knighted on the field of battle for being of upstanding character and renown.

In times of war, a Marshal will be named from the nobility to lead the Burthorpeian forces. If called up by the Crown, the King will assume that role until they come under proper command of the Crown's chosen Marshal. Only the King and the Crown can call the banners, though the nobles can do as the please in their own fiefs to keep law and order, defend against bandits, and such.

Nobles are given the right of ransom if captured in battle, they have the right to trial by combat if they wish it so, and can only be trialed before the King or Crown.

The landed nobility is as follows;

The King of Burthorpe: HM, Baldwin
The Prince(Princess) Imperial of Burthorpe: Empty
The Princedom of Varisia: Prince Jakob Grey
The Hereditary Princedom of Albamonte: House Aerendyl
The Margrave of Vairton: Kaeso Del'Vair III
The Margrave of Blackwood:
The Earl of Taverley:
The Earl of Avalon:
The Earl of Albany: Atlas Vortivask
The Baron of Greenwood:
The Baron of Steindorf: Magda von Steindorf

There are three titular titles;
The Duchy of Lessar
The Margrave of Mortacollina
The Viscount of Crstalmere:

Noble Houses

House Grey

House Del’Vair

House Aerendyl

The Imperial Guard

The Imperial Guard is an honored and respected position in both Burthorpe and Asgarnia. The defenders of the wall, the Imperial Guard as a long and proud standing history. Most known for their never ending conflict against the Trollish invaders.

The Imperial Guard offers a chance of greatness for those not born of noble blood. Most of the new nobility coming out of the ranks from the common born footmen. The only professional fighting force inside of the Kingdom not counting the Levies.

It is more common enough for the third to fourth born sons or daughters of noble families to be sent to the Imperial Guard to earn glory for their namesake and at a chance for starting their own Family.

The 'Footmen' of the Imperial Guard are common born. Coming from the poorest selection of the Burthorpe for the promise of food and pay. Out of this section comes the fabled longbowmen of the Imperial Guard. For those not able to wield the bow, they are armed similar to regular Men-At-Arms. Spears, pole arms, war hammers and swords.

A small selection are able to become Mounted Footmen and follow the mounted Officers of the Imperial Guard into battle.

The 'Officers' of the Imperial Guard are of noble birth. Either born into the nobility or have been knighted through other means. The difference between the Officers and Footman are obvious. From the way they call themselves to their armor and to being mounted. They wear the finest steel their Families can buy. The Officers lead small selections of Footmen.

The Lord(Lady) Marshal of the Imperial Guard oversees it all. From their training, to combat operations, to ensuring they are paid and fed for. Usually the Marshal of the Imperial Guard is a family member of the King.

The Levies

Controlled by the local nobility, the Levies are their personal forces. Ranging from mounted Knights, to Men-At-Arms and lastly peasants. They are armed, trained, paid and fed by their liege.

In times of conflict, or when the King’s calls for them, the nobles raise their levies and march to meet their liege. The last time the Levies were called was to push the troll invaders from Burthorpe and back into the mountains.

A rough idea for numbers for the Levies are as follows;

For example, the Earl of Taverly.

Earl of Taverly:
50 Mounted Knights
-150 Men-At-Arms
-300 peasants

The Royal Navy

Commanded by the Lord (Lady) Admiral of Burthorpe, the Navy is quite small in comparison to larger Kingdoms. Large enough to protect the Kingdoms’s trade routes and waters, must of their ships are used in trading rather than a fully standing militant force.

The flagship of the Burthorpeian fleet is, HMS Spite of Density, a Man o’ War battleship.
