Xel Praven, Lord Regent of Asgarnia, has chosen to retire from his position, appointing Countess Rosaline of Draynor in his stead. Her first order of business: convene with the political powers of the realm to discuss recent developments in Asgarnia and the future of the kingdom.

To Whom It May Concern:
I, Rosaline Haines, Regent of Asgarnia, by the grace of the Lord of Light, request your immediate presence at Falador. It best serves the interests of the kingdom when we work together, not against each other. I hope you share my desire for unity and look forward to meeting you.
Long live King Joseph. Long live Asgarnia.
Lady Rosaline Eloise Haines, Countess of Draynor and Regent of Asgarnia.

Out of the blue, the regent of Asgarnia issues a decree annexing Draynor to the Asgarnian monarchy. She deploys White Knights to occupy the county with seemingly no regard for the political ramifications of her actions.

A flapping sound would be heard as a green parrot handed on one of the castle walls, dropping out a very neat letter over the ledge on onto the guards below. Upon the blue envelope of the letter layed the wizards tower crest in fine gilded wax as it is addressed in cyan ink to 'Regent Rosaline Haines of Asgarnia'. It would read in fine cursive with that same cyan ink if opened.
"Salutations Regent Haines,
I write to you now in regards to a legal matter concerning an apothecary, that has been convicted of poisoning others with cadava for their personal gain, that has poisoned one of our own in your city of Falador with a hallucinogenic nerve poison. I wish for you, me, and the apprentice that had been poisoned to meet and speak about the corruption in asgarnian apothecaries post haster. With deep respect, I implore you to allow us a meeting. Please do respond.
Ominous rumblings from Falador emerge of a plague spreading throughout the poverty-striken Dens. Though accounts are sketchy, victims are described as falling into a magically induced sleep from which there is no waking. The city guard are to begin investigations immediately, but there is no telling how long it will take for them to secure evidence, nor what a response may entail should the rumors prove true.

Over a month ago the city of Falador closed its gates in a last-ditch effort to stymie the spread of a mysterious plague afflicting its people. Word had it that the Dens were all but lost, and the rest of the city's districts soon followed. The city guard, overwhelmed with the influx of victims and losing their own to the plague, were given the authority to enforce quarantine orders while a White Knight workforce was dispatched to collect and tend to the ill. Then all went quiet...
The rest of the kingdom was left in the dark, save for the occasional flare of magical light over the White Knights' Castle. Those able to teleport inside found themselves in a city under heavy lockdown, their actions monitored and restricted until departure. Information was scarce; truth and answers even more so. When the quarantine was finally lifted and the gates re-opened, the city was changed. King Joseph had lost his crown, throne, and soul.
It turns out that the plague was no true sickness at all. In truth, a curse had befallen the White City. Those suffering had their souls taken in the dead of night by a soul-stealing monstrosity. Not even the young Joseph was spared. Desperate to save the lives of her king and his subjects, his regent Rosaline Haines pored over various religious texts, dedicating her waking hours to deep prayer and study. She was able to trace the stolen souls and free them, but at great cost: the soul of the king was not among those saved.
With the threat of the "plague" dealt with, Rosaline Haines has proclaimed the king incapable. Crowning herself queen of Asgarnia, she vows to watch over Joseph and his kingdom until the safe return of his soul.
Long live Queen Rosaline. Long live Asgarnia!

(I don't suppose there is any possibility of F2P Roleplay since this is Falador-based?)
(I don't mind swinging by W41 if you're up for RP!)
Hear ye, hear ye!
In accordance with the laws of Queen Rosaline, all loyal vassals of Asgarnia must swear oaths and reaffirm their fealty to the crown, the kingdom, and the Lord of Light. Those unwise and unwilling to do so will be cast as enemies of the realm and dealt with swiftly and severely. In addition, to foster solidarity in the greater political sphere, permission and clearance has been granted to qualifying members of the Archaeology Guild for the excavation of material caches on Asgarnian soil.
Furthermore, so as to discourage uprisings following her coronation, Her Majesty proposed marriage to Lord Jacob Delvar, a former king of Asgarnia. They had a private ceremony in the castle chapel where he was made prince-consort. Because both are foreigners to the throne, Her Majesty has also seen fit to name a true son of Asgarnia as her personal bodyguard as well as maintain Prince Joseph as her heir in the interest of transparency and fairness.
May the holy light of Saradomin shine down upon the Queen and Prince and bless their reign!
