If, for some unknown reason, you want to become a Casso but were not born into the family, there are various ways to do so.
The Blooding Ritual
To do this, you require a large marble bowl and the blood of a Casso given willingly. Both participants, Casso and otherwise, cut the palm of their hands. Then, they proceed to shake hands over the bowl, bring each other closer until their arms are against their chests and their hands still held together. Then, the two proceed to dip their hands, still clasped, into the bowl. This symbolizes the eternal bond each Casso shares, as well as a commitment to each other and the family as a whole. Doing this will cause the weapons to fully recognize the outsider as a Casso, and they are known thenceforth as ____ Casso. Requirements for blooding are having untainted blood and being willing to renounce their former surname in favor of the Casso name.
Marriage
Relatively self explanatory. All spouses, be they male or female, are required to change their surname to Casso or they are not recognized as family. Weapons will not recognize the outsider as Casso this way. Blooding is optional.
Adoption
Formal adoption is immediately considered as family to all family members. Weapons do not recognize outsiders in this way. Surnames are often changed primarily because adoption is usually done to children, but is not required.
