Short-story: Imperial Guardsmen on the ramparts

A pair of guards watched over the eastern side of the royal palace, exotic music can be heard coming from below and dancing seen, one occasionally checks the northern side. The eastern guardsman, Norme, spoke:

Guardsman Jenson: "There isn't any musicians around here... what gives?

Guardsman Norme: "You've never seen a music box then, have you?

Jenson: A what? What is it, some trinket from the Eastern Lands?

Norme: No, I think the original ones came from the Kharidian deserts. Weirdly catchy tunes, probably why...

Norme looked a little closer at the figures dancing, among them he could see a box vibrating with a handle turning on its own, alongside Emperor Hans himself, dancing gracefully if a bit erratically. Like a butterfly caught in a vicious bellow of wind

Norme: ...His Imperial Majesty is... dancing to it?

At the mention of the Emperor, Jenson swiftly abandoned his post

Jenson: I didn't take His Imperial Majesty to indulge in such luxuries as this? Won't he tire eventually?

Norme: Probably, we've been through our physical training, we'd probably dance a night away, not so sure about the emperor.

Jenson: Surely he must have some martial capabilities? couldn't imagine it if he didn't.

Norme: Maybe, I'm not certain. You'd think we'd be more in tune with what the emperor does and what he's like, but it's rare to be on duty in direct line of sight of him.

Jenson: I have before, one of the Crown Champions spoke out of turn and he ordered he be beheaded, though the captain got it reduced to a flogging.

Norme: He'd do that... isn't tha-

Before Norme could finish his sentence, he noticed a glint of light reflecting off a pair of spectacles, the captain himself was looking up at the pair

Norme: Get back to your post, before we get disciplined...

• Character description - a medic by training and an okay swordsman by night. can speak a few languages, and, very friendly.
• Combat preference - 2h weapons, though is predominantly a pacifist.
• Personality traits - friendly, loyal, calm, non-aggressive.
it doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
