A message on the finest, sandy coloured paper would arrive at the Rectorial court, embossed and painted with the seal of Al Kharid and the personal seal of Sultan Feroze the Jackal at its head. Although written in the common language, the letters had a clear exotic flair and proceeded as follows:
Dear Juli-nus, Rector of the Church of Saradomin,
You are invited in person to my personal presence at the Palace of the Light in Al Kharid to discuss terms for the reconstruction of the Abbey of St. Elspeth Cithared* and installation of a Saradominist Abbot therein. My predecessor's negotiations with the Menaphites have freed the Abbey land, and once the Menaphites have completed their withdrawal, then the old military citadel can be replaced with a restored Cithared* Abbey. Al Kharid has a significant Saradominist population, for whose needs I must provide, and I do not wish to deny them the ability to worship.
This also means that the justification for your crusade is ended, Juli-nus. There is no need for war, and between the Abbey and your forces lie Misthalin, and the combined forces of the entire Kharidian Confederation. End this, Juli-nus, and there will be peace. Know that I am unafraid of war, and the history books tell of me staring down beasts both Kandar and Ryder with victorious consequence for the people of the Kharid. We are not simple people, Rector, we are a strong race, and we do not tolerate the interference of the white man in our affairs, so understand that your cooperation would be the easiest course of action for you, and the only one that shall give you any semblance of victory.
I trust you shall be expedient, for I do hate to waste time in my affairs.
Yours sincerely,
Feroze the Jackal,
Sultan of the Kharid,
The Sandstorm Everlasting,
Guardian of the Shantay Pass,
Sentinel of the Source of the Elid,
Bane of the Infidel.
