All in all I think we had a very successful event. Excited that we had such a strong showing. We raised 545,000 from our auction. The New Combat event is one that I think is worth refining and using in the future but I'd still like feedback on that too. Rend won with 3 out of 8 eliminations while The Ramokee had 2 eliminations and by a few second was the last man standing. So both won in different ways.

The ending was much more interesting. Two icyene arrived to arrest Magus for allowing the conclave to have Dark Magics, necromancy, other law breaking. They tried to arrest him but Magus intervened. Using the runecrafting nodes he disoriented one icyene while another mage teleported away. Similarly an icyene was sent over the railing, her wings immobilized.
Clearly something more was afoot.

Hey everyone!

This year, the Mage's Conclave was brought to you by a plot planned by the organizers. We call it the "Mage's War."

What is this? Simply put, it's an all out war between Magi. Following the events of the Conclave, people in favour of listing existing restrictions on magic, the taboo of ancients, the ban on Necromancy and Demon studies, are likely rallying together as Religious authorities tried to arrest people who allowed Necromancy at the Conclave. This is for a multitude of reasons. Some want it for research purposes, some want it for personal power. Some genuinely feel it is helpful.

The Second side is the legal authority. The morale side of "Ancients and Necromancy are bad, mmkay?" Essentially, the status quo. These are in turn broken up into radicals led by Church authorities of Saradomin, who wish to see Ancients even erased, and the more moderate, represented by the first true injured person of the War, Ekaterina Renderra, who does not mind Ancients, but feels Necromancy is harmful for the World and the magic tied to it.

There is also a third side, rallying around a controversial new figure who wishes to see a Magic Oligarchy, where Magi reign supreme over the rest. This group freely uses Necromancy and Demon-Summoning.

How does this work? How will it work?

The Conclave's Tourney, debate, and subsequent first skirmish built ties between attending characters. They all now have rivalries, friendships, and even outright enemies on various sides. This is what drives the plot. The interactions between various characters as they fight and aide eachother for what they view as right or wrong, across racial, religious, and political ties. Vampyres helping Icyene. Zarosians helping Armadyleans. Asgarnians and Kandars working together.

Chances are, your characters who didn't attend know. And now, they too will be approached or asked to take a side. How will this play out? Let's find out, together!
