Posters were put up, letters sent out, and messagers dispatched. The Conclave was at hand. Intellectuals were welcome to come and share, combatants to come and fight, and Students to come and learn. Those who can were invited to donate items to an auction to contribute to the ongoing fund that supports the conclaves.

The Conclave will begin at 5pm and will be followed by presentations. At 7PM the auction will begin and any presentations that we have not yet gotten to continue following the auction. At 9pm we will have our debate followed by the Combat event. The Combat event will then continue until complete but will last no more than 2 hours.

5PM EST - Magus Concendo, Welcome to the Conclave
7PM EST - Magus Concendo, Auction of donated items
9PM EST - Several, Debate on Magic
10PM EST - Magus Concendo, Secret Combat event.

All speakers will have 10 minutes to present. This includes time for questions an how that time is distributed is up to the speakers. This list is based off of interest expressed on the original thread. If you would like to be added or change your topic just post and let me know.

The debate at this conclave will be a "Debate on the Trivialty of Forbidden Knowledge. Magus Concendo will be moderating while Aadila Tuhand and (Kat Renderra or Faaiza Abdul'Qadir) will present their sides. Each debator will have 5 minutes to present an argument which will be followed by questons from the moderator, audience, and each other. 30 minutes has been allocated for the debate but if there are no additional presentations and time is available it can be extended.

Combat Event

This years combat event will remain largely a secret but there are a few basic rules. The event will not be a tournament and anyone is allowed to participate. I will be serving as the 'referee' of sorts for the combat portion. There will not be rules in terms of what magic is and is not allowed and your limits will simply depend on who you are fighting at that particular time. If the attacker and defender are ok with a stretch or a particular method of charging or similar issue then it will be allowed. In the interest of keeping things moving along and avoiding ooc arguments, I will be mediating any issues that arise. I will not be participating in the event.

Be warned that your character runs the risk of losing in the competition due to environmental damage and other effects that typically fall within the realm of dungeon master / boss mechanics. Don't worry there's no risk to characters in the long run and it's all for fun (and bragging rights)

Any items that are auctioned off will need to be surrendered prior to the conclave. Be aware that posting the donation form constitutes that the item has been handed over in-character. If the ic description of an item is falsified (example donating a forgery) please make a note of that. It won't be metagamed but we've had issues in the past with people saying several hours, days, or weeks later that something was a fake. It's fine to auction but the inforamation needs to be out there.
