Asgarnia sits on the precipice of war, since the king, William, has died of fever, leaving an heir of questionable legitimacy. The White Knights, led by Lord Regent of Asgarnia Manfred Keenan, have ruled Joseph as illegitimate and the infant prince's life hangs in the balance. The order of Saradomins holiest warriors seek to fill a throne for fear of the weakness that will befall a kingdom void of leadership. After long nights of thorough debate, as men and women move in the shadows plotting and moving their pieces on the board of power a decision is made. An election shall be held to give the kingdom's crown to the most deserving of the mantle.
The balance of power in Asgarnia has never been more inclined to shift than now; nor has its potential ever been more drastic, whether the change be good or foul for the lives of its people. Representatives from different walks of life convene to judge and hear the arguments and reasoning behind those who seek to claim the throne. Their goal? Bring order back to the east and balance the scales of a fallen kingdom.
The doors hang open for any with claim to walk through and state their case, the Council's decision shall be final and a new monarch will be crowned.
Further east, Misthalin seems to be drawing near to the end of a long and bloody civil war; its fate next to be decided, however, with two thrones empty and an empire in the west Gielinor stands ready to see change in any and all forms from treachery and knife work to democracy and justice. Many hold claim and are within rights to seek the crown.

For those interested in applying their character for the election, there are no requirements, save you be an active member of the World 42 RSRP community and you play fairly and kindly with others. This will not be an OOC competition. As such, the election WILL BE HELD IC and all events and actions shall be kept in the realm of roleplay. Hi, I'm Dan.

The Regency Council

The Regency Council in Falador governs the Kingdom of Asgarnia in the period of interregnum which has befallen the realm after the death of its king, Willliam.

It consists of five seats currently.

How to Acquire Candidacy in the Election

While your character's candidacy for the throne of Asgarnia is acquired through different means, for the intent of documentation of the royal potentials, we are providing a template which you may use here on this thread to announce your character's intent to pursue the throne.

The Electoral Royal Conclave
The Regency Council shall host a series of assemblies in which the candidates may gather together to debate, scheme and try to persuade the electors to their cause; these casual social RP events will be an opportunity for your character to shine and strengthen his or her cause. They will occur on a weekly basis.

Below will be the details of the upcoming conclave.

Third Electoral Conclave

What? : As the election nears a month in its proceedings, the Council seems no more closer to deciding who would sit the throne of Asgarnia than when the deliberations began while tensions with the arbitrary and decidedly mad king of Misthalin, Henry, have taken root. The Council has announced that there shall be a third assembly, so that the election may go on.
Where? : The Party Room of Falador
When? : Friday, 8th of November; 5PM PST, 7PM CST, 8PM EST Hi, I'm Dan.

The Crownlands

State of Falador

The White City, known as the capital of the Kingdom of Asgarnia, though it has been long since a sitting king has resided in the city, or its great White Keep, which fortifies the very heart of the bustling township. Falador is a fortress, its contents surrounded in great, white walls that have protected the city and its people from many sieges. In an act of solidarity, the late King William had gifted the White Keep to the Order of the White Knights; as such, it exists as a sort of quasi-sovereign entity, in and of itself, in the heart of Falador, as the headquarters of the Order, from which it may carry out the will of Saradomin. Falador itself is governed by the Grand Master of the White Knights; during this period of regency, the Grand Master is also tasked with the governance of the entire Crownlands.

County of Asperton

The County of Asperton is an assortment of settlements organized under the government of one nobleman, the Count of Asperton. Though it began through the House of Aren, it eventually fell into the hands of the House of Locke. Its terrain is flat, marshy plains, which makes it particularly defensible from attack. Its history is interwined with the world of magic in Gielinor, as many of its Counts have been proficient in wielding and using the many schools of magic, up to its incumbent, Christopher Locke. It is known, once, for having its own magical learning institution. Hi, I'm Dan.

Sarimia

County of Rimmington

A small, rural mining town in southwestern Asgarnia; though small, its history is rich with the origins of great kings and conquerors, especially those coming from the House of Grey. Though currently the County of Rimmington is held under the personal demesne of the Duke of Sarimia, Viktor Valengale.

County of Sarim

The County of Sarim is host to the largest port in mainland Gielinor, so it is a wealthy province that brings in much of the realm's tax income; it usually receives a great amount of maritime traffic, whether it be trade or immigrants and travellers coming from far-off lands, many bringing their riches and talents with them. The Duke of Sarimia holds this title within his personal demesne, as well.

Ashdale

Duchy of Ashdale

The Duchy of Ashdale is not traditionally a province of the Kingdom of Asgarnia, in fact one could argue it is hardly de jure. Though it is a particularly plain, humble society, its Duke is a Fremennik man who gained the trust and respect of the late King William. Hi, I'm Dan.

Duchy of Lassaria

The Duchy of Lassaria is an ancient entity, and through its many forms it has existed for far longer than any Asgarnian state; as such, many of its inhabitants are rather unwilling to call themselves Asgarnian. The origins of this ancient land and its hardy, proud people begins in the Zarosian Empire when the region was named Lassar, from which the present name comes. After the fall of Zaros, there came the rise of the Kings of Silverhill. Osden Silverhill is the legendary first king who conquered the place where Silverhill, his capital, now stands and, as such, is one of the most significant figures of influence in the culture of Lassaria.

Over time, two sects became known; the Silver Lassarians, who are descendants of the Saradominist conquerors of Lassar following the end of the Zarosian Empire and Native Lassarians, whose descendants were those whose customs fit the Imperial standard, which continues on to present day. The Silver Lassarians have much more peculiar customs, wherein there is a rather strong societal heirarchy in which one's appearance has bearing on their status and wealth. Long departed are the days of the Kings of Silverhill, as presently Arthan Sterlant sits as its Duke. Hi, I'm Dan.
