So, fair warning this ENTIRE thread is spoiler heavy.
I'm going to start by describing an RP event from late 2012, involving the corruption of the Salve
Zamorakian monks, seeking to wreak havoc on the world polluted the Salve with blood and dark magic, to weaken the barrier. Holding the temple long term allowed them to spread word to the Vampyres and get some lovely chaos rolling.
The Renderra, being massive asses under Lucius, wanted to repent for this, and driven by faith called to retake the Salve Barrier.
Lucius' weapon of choice for this was the Mioré polestaff, a Blisterwood weapon saved by an Icyene who fled the fall of Hallowvale, and gave it to the Mioré family. It was passed down to James Mioré, who died in service to the Sicarius under Zaovyr, the weapon taken by Thea Sicarius for safe-keeping. Thea traded her new Blisterwood weapon for Lucius' notes on Necromancy, breaking his promise to ensure it was forgotten.
Lucius modified the Polestaff to be able to cast magic.
When Lucius parleyed the Varré and Nourom, her was impaled on his own staff and stabbed by Taralani Nourom, bleeding into the Salve. In his last moments, he allowed for a ritual of blood to repair the barrier.
So, let's look at what we know from River of Blood now?
- Learn the Priestly Seven did a blood ritual to raise the barrier to start.
- Learn the Sunspear is a Spear and Staff weapon, able to be thrown or stabbed, or used for magic.
Nice try Jagex... Not getting past me! Anyone got other RP headcanons that are now supported? Now changed?

Myreque are essentially done. Vamps aren't tyrannical and there isn't really drastic need for resistance (although I guess you could argue they linger until they are completely gone?). Vampyres turn human if they cross the Salve and Efaritay is just chillin killin.

So where does it leave Morytania RP now?

More questions than answers imho.
There is no conflict anymore in Morytania on a big governemental level (lorewise speaking, not for our characters). Everything that can be seen as 'evil' now resides in the actions of stuborn individuals and tradionalists that oppose the truce the World Guardian, Aeonis**, *faritay and Vanescula have created.
Also, there is literally no reason to stay vyre anymore for many characters. I mean sure you're still super powerful and practically immortal but it's different now that you can leave this easily. I for one already know that I'm making roleplay around Hitomi leaving Morytania for something better and I suspect other human-turned vampyres to do the same. There's just nothing interesting to do in these lands anymore for my vampyre now that all the bloodthirst is gone.

I am bad and that's good, I will never be good and that's not bad, there's no one I'd rather be than me.
I'm going to do the quest after I watch GoT, but from what I've heard, it sounds like I picked the wrong time to dust off my Morytania boots and that they full on ruined everything that made it interesting.
RIP the only thing I've ever loved on this game? We'll see.
From what I gathered the River Salve turns "base-born" vampyres (humans, etc.) back to their original forms. Vanescula and the alliance are trying to get the base-borns in Darkmeyer the serum that made that possible so they too can become humans again. "True-borns" given the serum lose their blood-lust temporarily, I think, which is a big deal because now they might have enough blood supply without all the lesser vampyres. The alliance is working to get food and water to the citizens of Meiyerditch and beyond, and are considering rewarding people who participate in tithing stations so everyone's happy.
Speaking with King Roald after the quest shows only vampyres are affected by the Salve's blessing and werewolves can cross freely. That sounds promising. Otherwise you've got yourself what Croco said, what with the traditionalists and all that.
I think Mod Rowl*y was giving out more lore earlier after the quest release but I wasn't there to hear it, so I could be wrong on some points.
