Name: Lincoln Castus/Crast Ares

Gender: Male

Race: A vengeful Human and Wraith bound together.

Lineage: Mahjarrat (Both)

Age: 30/7,942

Alignment: True Neutral/Chaotic Neutral

Religion: None/None

Grace/Racial Powers: Lincoln is bound to the spirit of a wraith who, in life, was named Crast Ares. In addition to already having been a well-trained mercenary, his bond with the undead Crast gives him various supernatural abilities. This allows him to teleport within his line of vision, access and manipulate the minds of others through physical contact with their head, and increases his strength, speed, and reflexes beyond that of a normal human. He is also able to disorient his enemies by concentrating a mental blast into his limbs when he strikes. They are also to regenerate their wounds through the draining of anima from anything that has it through contact, though whatever they drain it from shall always be replenished within hours, and they can never drain something completely. Using this technique, they can also drain emotions from others through contact to feed their power.

Talents/Skills: Lincoln was a talented mercenary and Crast was the General of his village’s military. Both were competent combatants, using very similar fighting styles with a mastery of the longsword and occasional off-hand dagger and a competence in archery.

Weapons/Specialized Tools:
They carry a simple steel blade, and off-hand dagger. Though they currently wish to uncover the ancient blade of Crast.

Weaknesses: Crast feeds off of Lincoln’s emotion, and therefore their powers can be limited based on how well Crast has fed recently. If Lincoln is feeling particularly strong emotions, or has recently, then Crast is well-fed and therefore more powerful. In a similar manner they can feed off of anima as well, but essentially the wraith must be well-fed for them to be powerful.

Appearance: Lincoln stands at about 6’0” with light brown hair and simple leather armor, when using his wraith abilities his body glows a translucent blue as Crast’s image projects itself over him. Crast stands at the same height but with blue hair and a tattered general’s trenchcoat.

Brief History: In the Third Age, a village on the outskirts of Forinthry known as Sansa was separated from the God Wars by personal choice. Even the priests of Saradomin in the village preached a message of peace and abstinence from fighting as pawns for the gods. However, Saradomin found this to be an affront to his own teachings, and sent a small military force to wipe out the village in a clandestine manner. He was not expecting that the villagers were led by a trained military general, Crast Ares, who led the villagers against the trained paladin army and won. They even managed to convert several of the paladins to their cause with what his subordinates called a silver tongue. Those who knew General Crast, however, knew better. He was of Mahjarrat parentage, and therefore possessed an ability to persuade those around him to his side of an argument with little effort thanks to his mental powers. It was through this that the General then convinced half of Saradomin’s paladin hit squad to join the villagers of Sansa in defending their home from the wrath of the god of light.

Crast’s newly formed army defended their home for several years, before Saradomin sent an Icyene to do his dirty work, who made quick work of Crast’s army before making it to him. The Icyene, Korrel, fought Crast for a surprisingly long time through the now ruins of his home. Crast did not give up, however, and finally managed to gain the upper hand through the cutting off of the Icyene’s wings. He was badly injured, but actually managed to score a fatal blow on Korrel, at the cost of his health and home the battle was won.

With nothing to live for in Sansa anymore, Crast left with what few survivors remained. They became a nomadic band of godless warriors, and carried a hatred for the gods’ armies. This small band of nomads began even running raids on the god armies’ camps, gaining a public enemy status in the battlefield of Forinthry. In a clandestine operation, Crast’s Nomads took a castle in the northern wilderness and began running up the flags of Sansa. They began attracting similarly distraught peasants in Forinthry to what was essentially a first rendition of the Godless.

Castle Sansa, as it was named by Crast and his son, Jetwyn, became a refuge for those who wished to hide from the gods. It was after many years that Castle Sansa became besieged by the combined armies of the gods in one of the largest unrecorded battles of the God Wars. It was a large six-way battle that lasted weeks, until the forces of Bandos and Saradomin breached the wall, with Zamorak, Armadyl, and Zaros’ forces engaged in combat outside. General Garrog, a hobgoblin general, and Captain Zaraya, the sister of Korrel, engaged in a battle with Crast at the top of the Castle’s tallest tower. Crast had become well-versed in fighting Icyenes, and quickly clipped Zaraya’s wings off of her back, and was more than a match for the combined forces of his two adversaries, until his Mahjarrat uncle, Sozin, joined the fray. Zamorak’s forces had pierced the outer wall as well. Crast, seeing the futility of the battle, and caring more for his people than his life, called for a retreat. Jetwyn led the surviving Nomads away from the battle, as Crast continued his fight against three far more powerful foes. In the end, no party came out the victor, as Armadyl’s now victorious forces stormed the empty castle, they found all four combatants dead, with Crast sitting upon his throne with multiple horrific wounds. He had slain the other three, before succumbing to his own wounds. However, his spirit remained at the castle, vowing to defend those who can** defend themselves.

Lincoln Castus was born in Catherby to a wealthy merchant family, and was considered a noble. At the young age of 10, Lincoln’s family was slaughtered by a group of bandits who broke into their manor. Lincoln hid in the wardrobe, and when he went to the guards, he found that they were being paid off by the same bandit chief that killed his parents to not go after them. He was taken in by a local antique shop owner, whose name was only known as Mr. Gold to everyone in the village. The fact that little knew, however, was that Mr. Gold was a contractor for every local mercenary in Kandarin. He trained the young Lincoln in the ways of combat with most weaponry in his shop, and taught him tons of old legends as if he had been there for them. Lincoln, when he turned 18, became a mercenary officially.

One of his first jobs, however, was from the very bandit chief who killed his parents and it was to help them break into a similar noble family’s manor. Lincoln refused when he found that they wanted to murder the family just to steal their possessions. The bandit chief turned on him, and he was easily outmatched, as the chief had years of experience over Lincoln’s. Lincoln barely escaped with his life, and when Mr. Gold found out that he did*’t do the job he was asked, he was furious and disowned him. Lincoln, now 20 and on his own, began training with the Burthorpe military, secretly using their training to become a vigilante.

Lincoln, now fighting for the sake of justice, hit a dilemma when he finally came to confront the bandit chief that had ruined his life in his late 50s 10 years later. The chief was injured and sick, near death anyway. Lincoln was about to kill him, when he had a change of heart and left him to die on his own instead. Realizing he couldn’t kill the man, as it just wouldn’t be justice, but a personal vendetta. He found peace with this, and decided to give up his vigilantism, going to follow one of Mr. Gold’s legends. The tale of Crast Ares and Castle Sansa.

Lincoln made a two year trek into the wilderness, searching for Castle Sansa. When he found the ruins of it, he marched up to the top of the castle, where he found the throne of General Crast. The spirit of Crast assessed his mind all the while Lincoln was searching the castle, and found that they were very similar. He confronted Lincoln at the top of the castle, and fought him. Crast was of course a much more talented fighter, but deemed Lincoln to be a worthy opponent as their fight lasted for several hours and went through the whole castle. He then offered to bond with his soul, to help him on their same goal to defend those who couldn’t defend themselves.

After that, Lincoln and Crast became a nomadic vigilante, dealing their own brand of justice to those who tormented the innocent. They became infamously known as The Wraith, an entity feared worldwide.
