Is playing an ice Sprite generally acceptable in the community?

That depends on how powerful such a character would be. What examples are there for ice sprites in lore?

The ice sprites are a race of humanoids who inhabit the Land of Snow, a plane different from Gielinor. The only known member of this race is the Queen of Snow. Ice Sprites seem to generally have pale blue skin and blue hair, and possess certain powers over cold and water. The son of the Queen of Snow and half Ice Sprite, Jack Frost can be seen displaying these powers during the 2008 Christmas Event, and the Queen herself is charged with bringing snow to RuneScape during Christmas time. Ice Sprites age extremely slowly by human standards. Jack Frost is 44 years old in human years, but has the physical and mental age of a seventeen-year-old boy. As he is also half human, this would imply that Ice Sprites age more than 4 times as slow as humans. The name “Ice Sprite” is revealed by a snow imp during the Christmas event in 2008. The name of this species was unknown in the Christmas event of 2007 where they (without Prince Jack) were also present.

Straight from the wiki. That's...all there is.

Unfortunately, you're absolutely right - and not just in the sense of a pun. A being from a different plane with a special hair colour who matures without ageing and wields power over specific elements. It is, quite tragically, as much a cliche as a half-jarrat.
One man's trash is another's treasure, and one man's cash buys another's pleasure.
So I'll rob from the cradle, and I'll rob from the grave; it's just human traffic, and I'm just a slave.

I don't see a use for this kind of character outside of a seasonal-themed plot. Also, do we even know how many of these things exist anyway?

Anyone know of any conlang work for the Runescape universe or are we still at "google translate arabic for kharadian" stage of roleplay community? I wouldn't see why that work wouldn't develop to be "out-there" like other role-playing or likewise geeky communities. I have had at least one interaction of people in Lord of the Rings online speaking authentic Quenya in front of me.

I mean I could certainly dabble in it. I love linguistics and have been pondering about how the languages could be related and how certain circumstances allowed for certain accents and so on.

There's nothing stopping someone from doing this and you'd probably get some big respect for doing such a thing, but there's really no incentive beyond "Look what I can do" factor.

And people generally don't undertake something so large like learning a language for something so niche, because there's no practical use. The majority of roleplay is even in a Common speaking area and no one does this, so it's not like you could start a little language club.

What you see in LOTRO is probably an outlier, because Tolkein. RuneScape is a long lived game and a household name in the gaming community, sure, but Tolkein's Middle Earth is a very long lived setting and a household name in general. It's captured people's imaginations like none other. On the other hand, this roleplay community is an outlier on the other end of the spectrum. RuneScape isn't known for a very robust setting and story, but we give it more credit and still love it.

We don't even use Google Translate, also. That would be a hassle. We just use a single pair of brackets like so:

*Oh man I am not good with Kharidian.]

Or also,

[E*: Oh man I am not good with Elven.

The censor is an *******, though.
