A letter would be sent out by carrier bird, some carrying prefabricated teleportation tablets given the untimeliness. The letter would read of a ball occurring tonight in West Ardougne at 8 PM CST/9PM EST/2AM GMT! It would go to all noblemen, imperials and even foreign royalty of Asgarnia and Misthalin.

Word would spread quickly of the ball across the duchy of Ardougne, word even reaching to Sinclair.

Following a public coronation, in which many many people were in attendance, so much more than the last guy -- believe me, I had the biggest crowd, possibly in the history of coronations.

Ahem, ahem.

William Osden James Satton of the House of Sterlant has been crowned King of the Asgarnians; however, the coronation was not without its drama. An attempt to assassinate the King was made, but failed before it could take harmful effect on the new king and his government. A crumpled, white rose was found in one of his hands, though it is unclear as of yet what this means for the new king and his realm. Regardless, the King had the audience dispersed for their safety and ordered an investigation into the incident to begin immediately.

The Principle Code of Law


Preamble

With the blessing of Saradomin and by the will of the people, this document shall be created to exist as the Principle Code of Law, to maintain a set of laws and which will be duly enforced as it is written, upon the Kingdom of Asgarnia, in accordance with legal precedence and the determination of the people and their chosen and blessed Sovereign. In order for the state to exist in a manner of law and order, it must abide by the contents of this code; to preserve the rights and liberties of all lawful subjects and vassals of the Crown, to defend the realm from its enemies and to maintain the sovereign's peace from the hills of Burthorpe, across the great ice mountain and the majesty of the crownlands, to the blue bay of Sarim.

The Five Principle Rights

• The sovereign must endeavor to preserve the subject's right to a fair and open trial, so that the accused may stand before a lawful court of their peers to be judged in accordance with the laws of the land.

• The sovereign shall stand in to uphold the rights of the subject, as the most supreme justice of the land, in the event of a substantial and peaceful public appeal in opposition to a result of a lawful court proceeding is made, in order to preserve the integrity of justice.

• The sovereign shall preserve the subject's right to their freedom of expression in accordance with the Asgarnian Criminal Code, so as to deliver upon the realm the divine mandate of Saradomin.

• The sovereign shall ensure the security and uphold the liberty of all lawful subjects, whether at home or abroad, in the event that an appeal is made to the plenipotentiary of the Sovereign by a subject of the Crown, should they face injustice.

• The sovereign shall ensure that all lawful subjects of the realm must live freely without fear of unjust imprisonment, excepting only as a result of the legal proceedings of an Asgarnian court of law, nor shall it tender any form of recognition and benefit to those who endeavor to bring it into effect against any Asgarnian subject.

The Laws of Succession
To ensure the continuation of the monarchy in the event of the death or abdication of the incumbent sovereign, this set of laws shall serve as procedure so that there is a speedy and favorable succession.

• Traditionally, the order of succession is done in the form of primogeniture, wherein the eldest son of the incumbent sovereign shall ascend to the throne when it is vacated. In the absence of a son, the eldest daughter is usually permitted to succeed to the throne.

• In the absence of a suitable and viable heir, the Grand Master of the White Knights has the privilege to assume the office of Regent of Asgarnia to see to the continuity of government.

• In such a case as Their Graces, the Duke of Sarimia, the Duke of Lassaria, and, His Excellency, the Grand Master of the White Knights consent unaminously, then a regency may begin in the stead of the monarch when the incumbent appears unsuitable, whether in the event of illness, incapacitation or insanity. If the incumbent sovereign is no longer favored, then the regency council may vote to depose the monarch, which may only occur with unaminous support, and then to elect a more favorable candidate.

Asgarnian Criminal Code

I. Capital Felonies
Capital felonies are crimes of the most severe nature, and thus usually are delivered the most substantial penalties. The maximum penalty, and ultimate sanction, is death, but aside from that, exile, outlawry and a life's time held in either incarceration or penal service are also acceptable forms of punishment.

High Treason : Actions which endeavor to bring harm to the reigning sovereign, their government or the citizens of Asgarnia, in such a manner that it is intended to destabilize the realm; to hinder or sabotage the armies of Asgarnia, designs to assassinate or depose the sovereign or members of their government, among other things. Unsuccessful attempts or designs of treasonous nature shall be charged as conspiracy and those convicted will be penalized as if they had succeeded.

Murder : To take the life of a lawful subject of the realm, in any manner and for any purpose.

Espionage : This crime encompasses acts when the Sovereign's court, or the facilities of their government, are endangered or compromised for the benefit of a foreign state or enemy belligerent.

Desecration : The desecration of holy ground or the bodies of dead persons, in any form and especially in the manner of necromancy; to cause damage to the Church of Asgarnia, and thus the Sovereign, through the desecration of temples and artifacts of divine origin. An act of violence upon a temple, whether such designs are successful or not, will be penalized as if they had succeeded.
