I wasn't quite sure what to expect when they came to us and told us we were moving out tomorrow. I knew we were invading, somewhere - the ship we went on, the Voshani, was large, dark and cramped. Hundreds of others were on the ship with me, which was one in a whole fleet. Ships the size of small towns to tiny gun cutters packed with cannon raced along to the coast of Kandarin. When they finally opened the hatch, we were marshalled onto the deck, given a brief gear check, and ushered onto the landers which were dropped over the sides of the ship. The landers were rowed to shore and we stormed out onto an empty beach, in a quiet woods. As I looked down the shoreline, I saw some of the massive ships unleash a broadside - fire seemed to be spewing from the ship, and far away, in the distance, I saw the small town of Witchaven getting ripped to shreds by the cannons. I knew now where we were going.
Us soldiers were then formed into blocks of about 30 each, with a captain. I was assigned to the center. We marched in formation into the town, and we saw the defenders. Fortified behind piles of rubble, spears and shields waiting, they were a motley crew. I saw a small core of professional Kandar Army soldiers, but many more civilians and conscripts, hastily given training and armor. One of our generals was speaking with their commander, demanding their surrender, when out of the corner of my eye I saw a large projectile fly through the air and smash into the side of a Kandar soldier's head. He was instantly killed; his brains flying through the air. Then, the other half of our army charged. Having snuck up on the flank, The mass of men, mostly special forces and elite units, charged into the rear and the flank of the Kandar army. I was able to pick out several of the officers and generals leading the charge.
