Good update you added to the story. Now we have context and my feelings are a little different.

I googled this as it was intesting to know.

What jabs does a baby need?
Your baby should be immunised with DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB vaccine when they are 8, 12 and 16 weeks old. The DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB vaccine protects against 6 different diseases – diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b and hepatitis B.1 Jun 2021

So if August has had none of them his chances of survival are very limited. I can now see the doctors point of view and my opinion about him has changed. He is wanting the best care for August and his parents are against the jabs He really needs for a better life.

It's nothing to do with Covid per se as it's about all the other jabs He should have had as a baby growing up.

So now thinking about it if these jabs will save his life then He should get them. I feel for the parents using this as an excuse but the offer of life is there and they should welcome it for their child.

Still hoping for a good outcome for August though.

I'm with you, Tuffty.

It didn't say in the article if the mother refused to let Baby August have the vaccinations for religious reasons. In that case, it's a matter of "Thy will be done." I'm not trying to bring religion into this, rather another point of view.

Too many unanswered questions.

I'm all for the vaccine. My SO and I have taken all the vaccines, have boosted, and intend on following all of the recommendations for ourselves.

We've been anxious for our 1 year old to get the vaccine and they just made it available to us a couple of weeks ago. Prior to its availability it seemed like a total no brainer, but when it became available (seems like only 1-2 weeks ago) we did begin to have second thoughts. What if there are adverse effects? When my SO and I took the vaccine we felt scared too we know there are very low risks, and the justification is that COVID is more riskier than the vaccine.

That justification was not so clear for our 1 year old. When looking at the CDC data only 3.3% with cases of COVID were under 5 years old, and 0.1% have have died from it and while we don't know exactly the circumstances surrounding that 0.1% I don't think it's unfair for us to assume that those babies sadly had other underlying issues (admitting we don't know it's just speculation). Either way: That's an extremely small number, and we're not sure what the adverse effects risks are for very young kids yet.

We did end up taking our baby to get the vaccine, but the new justification for us is that we don't know the adverse effects of COVID too and we've heard of really bad symptoms from long COVID including brain damage. So maybe the odds of our baby dying from COVID are very low, but might have a terrible symptom we wont know about or understand. We also assumed that since my SO and I were okay with the vaccine that it was likely very safe for the baby too.

I don't know very much and I'm not trying to put myself out there as spitting facts... maybe I misinterpreted or misunderstood, and I also understand the recommendation the agencies are making... I just wanted to say that I could see where some parents might be coming from regarding COVID vaccine for their baby.

I found this update:

https://wstpost.com/unvaccinated-baby-refused-to-heart-after-evangelical-parents-refused-vaccines-for-him-eventually-approved/

If I remember correctly, the hospital had a heart waiting for Baby August Stoll, Apparently, the heart was given to someone else, because now the infant is back on the waiting list.

@vonSageworth: You're right, there seems to be some religious reasons behind all this.

Let's keep him in our prayers. My prayer list is getting pretty long, lately. I'm putting Baby August at top priority.
